STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI - NO SPOILERS REVIEW
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the sequel to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it is the 8th episode in the Star Wars saga. The film continues where The Force Awakens left off for the main characters, and the battle between the Resistance and the First Order.
This is my non-spoiler review so I’ll be quite vague about many things as I’m trying not to spoil anything for you if you haven’t seen it yet.
Overall, once I let the film sink in for a bit, I realized that even though there were quite a few things I didn’t like about the movie, I really loved it.
The Last Jedi is a darker take on the Star Wars films than what we’ve seen over the years, and I really liked the direction that Rian Johnson took with the film, he took everything you knew about the Star Wars universe & flipped it upside down.
It’s a great film and sequel to The Force Awakens, I really like how they continued the story and where it took our characters. Rey and Finn were just as great as the first film, we get to see more of Poe which I really loved, Rose was such a cute character I really liked her, and Kylo Ren definitely stands out in this film and was great. BB-8 was also just as adorable and fun as always.
I don’t want to talk too much about Mark Hamill because spoilers but he was INCREDIBLE in this film.
Seeing Carrie Fisher made me so emotional, Leia was amazing in this movie.
It has some subtle (and not too subtle) parallels to Empire Strikes Back that were done really well and pulled off impeccably.
The film answers some questions from The Force Awakens, but also plays with your mind a bit.. you’ll definitely be thinking about the movie for a while after leaving the cinema.
The score & music in the film is just as sensational as you’d expect for a Star Wars film, but I was pleasantly surprised at the beauty of the cinematography of the film, it was excellent.
As I said, there were parts that I didn't like, but I won't go over them here since they're very spoilery.
The film has a relatively slow pace for an adventure film, but it didn't feel slow at all, instead you feel fully immersed into the story and the Star Wars universe; it was extremely exciting and thrilling; there were moments when I was literally on the edge of my seat and felt like I couldn't breathe because I was so excited, nervous, or happy.
The Last Jedi will definitely excite and thrill you and blow you away. It's such a great movie and I definitely recommend that you watch it and take your kids to see it as well.
