The Efficiency Expert - The Value of a Hard Day’s Work

Wonderful little Australian film that I caught in the theater during the brief time it passed through our town. It seems to have dropped off the face of the earth ever since then, and it was even hard finding a decent picture to go with this post. Called ‘Spotswood’ when it was released down under, this one stars Anthony Hopkins as a corporate raider (under the guise of an 'efficiency expert’) who is enlisted by the owner of a small moccasin factory to help 'improve his bottom line’. The workers at this small quirky factory are all expecting 'modernization techniques’, but unbeknownst to them, he’ll more than likely be firing them all and liquidating the company. Quietly funny and has some great things to say about our modern outlook on profits and stockholders and the true value of 'work’, and is a really uplifting and enjoyable story.

My rating: 4/10

Paintball ninja master goes to the dark side, student has to stop him. Everything is very industrial for some reason. Also, anyone who buys this because International Sex Symbol Nicole Kidman (TM) is on the cover will be sorely disappointed, this looks like it was shot around the same time as BMX Bandits, so she's still a kid with ridiculous hair.

This is basically a particularly dull Karate Kid knockoff, with no discernible stakes and a lot of weird shit thrown in, probably to distract from said lack of stakes. Very 80s, but not enough to make it not a rather boring experience.
