Nicake Timeline September 2024
We left August with Jake in a mysterious body of water and Nicola taking selfies with fans in Malta. Although many fans were sure Nicola and Jake were in Malta together, others wanted to believe literally anything else.
1 September 2024
A wig designer working on The Magic Faraway Tree shares a video of the cast and crew out on a boat. Almost immediately, fans start dissecting the background and notice a couple who look suspiciously like Nicola and Jake.
Screenshots begin circulating, and the fandom splits in two. Some people say it is obviously them. Others insist the man does not look enough like Jake and start throwing out alternative theories about who it could be. This kicks off a full debate cycle across TikTok and Tumblr, with certain creators literally pulling up the cast list and going face by face trying to match anyone who even kind of looks like Jake, just so they can say the guy in the background is definitely not him.
What makes this moment especially notable is that it comes just one day after Jake’s swimming selfie. Even with that fresh post in mind, a chunk of the fandom stays in denial that Jake could actually be there with Nicola.

Jake begins following Nicola’s sister on Instagram, and she follows him back shortly after. One more of Nicola's loved ones to add to the ever-growing list of Jake's followers.
