Fluff <33 TW: Insecurities(?)
You groaned, looking in the mirror for the umpteenth time that afternoon. Mark had planned a special day for you two after his practice, but you couldn’t find anything to wear. Sighing, you pulled on a simple dress, it was casual enough for a nice summer date but nice enough that it made you feel pretty in it.
You sat on the bed of your shared apartment in distress. You used to love this dress, but it seems like it had been too long since you’ve last worn it and it didn’t fit the way it used to. Looking up, you caught sight of yourself. You noticed all the little things about yourself- your makeup didn’t look quite right, and your hair wasn’t laying the way you wanted it to.
Normally, things like this wouldn’t bother you, but lately you haven't been feeling your best. It didn’t help that Mark had been preparing for another comeback, and as much as you knew you shouldn’t be worried about him surrounded by his female staff members, or by female idols and trainees, it still got to you sometimes.
You lost track of time, pouting at your reflection in the mirror, sitting there with thoughts of Mark and his female colleagues, colleagues that were definitely prettier than you, more fun to be around, more talented, dressed better-
“Baby?” Mark pulled you out of your thoughts, entering the apartment. You heard his footsteps approaching the bedroom, peeking into the door and spotting you sitting at your vanity, sat in the dress you had put on a couple of hours ago. A smile appeared on his face, but it left just quickly when you made eye contact through your mirror. “What’s wrong?” He rushed over, still looking at you through the mirror and pulling your back into his chest, wrapping his hands around your shoulders. “Are you okay? Did something happen??”
You shook your head, finally turning around to calm him, “Nothing happened, everything is fine-”
“No, something is bothering you, I can tell. Just tell me what it is, baby,” he pulled his computer chair over to sit near you, grabbing your hand and rubbing circles lightly with his thumb. You sighed, knowing there was no way he would let this go.
“I just-” you pouted, not knowing how to explain how you were feeling. “I was just thinking about you at work, and how you work with so many girls who must be a lot prettier and a lot more talented than me, and-” you paused, looking for the right words. “-and I was having trouble getting dressed and my makeup isn’t right and my hair is messed up-”
“Oh, baby,” Mark pulled you to sit in his lap, brushing your hair out of your face lightly before wrapping his arms around your waist to keep you steady. “You look beautiful. You always look beautiful, okay?” One of his hands came up to cup your face, tilting your head down to kiss your forehead, nose, and lips lightly. “Way more beautiful than any other girl I see. I promise, you have nothing to worry about.”
You just nuzzled into his neck, you knew there was nothing to worry about but you were grateful for the reminder. He rubbed soothing circles into your back before picking you up and laying both of you under the covers in bed.
“How about we just stay in and order take out today?” He suggested after he pulled away from you. You pouted again, brows furrowed in confusion since you knew he had wanted to go to the new restaurant down the block for a date. He noticed your expression, giggling and kissing the spot between your brows. “I know we were supposed to go out, but I think we should stay in so I can remind you how much I love you. We can go to that restaurant another day.”
You couldn’t help but smile back at him, “You always know how to make me feel better. Thank you, Mark.”
“Anything for you, baby. I love you so so so much,” he pulled you close to him by your waist, peppering kisses all over your face and commenting softly about how beautiful and talented and fun you were in between all the kisses, making you giggle.
“I love you too,” you leaned in to return all the kisses.
