Salute for Jim McEwan, this guy is an industry veteran - former cooper and innovative distiller – living whisky encyclopedia. Last year Mark Reynier left Bruichladdich to set a new distillery in Ireland, Laddie Ten was replaced by some NAS as a core expression, and now McEwan retires, too bad, and it’s concerning me a lot. It was so brave and innovative squad, outstanding visionaries who gave us a lot of fun with their whisky, and brang some freshness to very conservative industry. Octomore is an extreme thing, personally I do enjoy it, but it's rather late fall/winter dram, so these things has to wait a bit ;)

Mark Reynier, früherer CEO von Bruichladdich, hat sich seit dem Verkauf von Bruichladdich im Jahr 2012 recht rar gemacht. Jetzt ist er wieder da. Mit dem Tweet: "@markreynier: Today I bought a new distillery - it's good to be back." hat er bereits für Aufmerksamkeit gesorgt, wollte aber noch nichts verraten. Auf viele Spekulationen folgte ein weiterer Tweet: "@markreynier: It's only fair to say - it doesn't KNOW it's a distillery yet." Jetzt ist die Katze aus dem Sack. Er hat die Waterford Brewery von Guinness gekauft und wird dort wohl Whiskey(!) brennen. Auf meine Nachfrage, was seine Pläne sind antwortete er: "@markreynier: @Gourmetsyndrom you'll have to wait and see..." Wir werden sehen...!
