Paravel had the great honor of working with Mark Simonson to redesign the site for his studio. The site currently features 28 fonts, so one of my main tasks was to develop a system of specimens that showcase the beauty of his catalog.

Main titles from feature films (websites)

Quelques adresses indispensables à toutes personnes qui portent un intérêt à la typographie et aux génériques de films.

Deux riches bases de données de Movie Titles. L'une est le résultat d'un classement obsessionnel (1) depuis presque dix ans. L'autre fait aussi office de portfolio du designer (2) Christian Annyas. Ce dernier, plus agréable à l'oeil, propose aussi des "articles" autour du travail de Saul Bass (3) ou de l'utilisation de la typographie chez Jean-Luc Godard (4), pour ne citer qu'eux. De son côté, Art of Title (5) propose des vidéos de qualités d'une série de génériques aux nombreux atouts esthétiques, présentés à chaque fois avec quelques-mots sur le film. Le générique de Shining (6) ou le plan-séquence d'ouverture de Snake Eyes (7) y figurent parmi tant d'autres. Enfin, le type-designer Mark Simonson tient à jour un blog (8) où il repère les anachronismes typographique dans les films et séries qui lui passent sous les yeux, suite d'un précédent blog (9) qu'il a arrêté.

San Francisco based letterer and co-founder of Friends of Type, Erik Marinovich, has produced this beautiful cover for the latest issue of 8 Faces.  It features the 8 interviewees' names, hand-drawn and reproduced in bright eye-catching colours.
