Book Sale! || @markedxdiez
“I, um, thank you sir! We, um, we appreciate your patronage.” It had been so long since the library’s last book sale! Aya watched as an elderly man hobbled off, clutching his books like prizes won at the fair. A market stall was set up along the docks, in front of a ship with a sign that read “Flying Lilly Library” in easy to read print. Books were laid out, small signs marking the different sections - fiction, non-fiction, biography, etc. It wasn’t too busy yet, but they had only just finished setting up.
Aya was one of two librarians running the stall for the moment - all the crew took turns, since the sun was hot and no clouds were in the sky. It was still mid-morning, however, the sun not yet to its full strength, and Aya was enjoying the feeling of the sun against her skin.
Rearranging some of the fiction books so they were better displayed, Aya almost didn’t notice when someone new approached the stall. Only when a shadow falls over the books does she look up to see a rather tall man standing before her. “Oh! I, um, hello. Welcome, um, welcome to the Flying Lilly booksale. I’m, um, I’m Aya, one of the librarians here - can I, um, can I help you find anything?” She greets politely.
Already Aya could tell he was no civilian, but ever the little professional, she did her best to push aside and initial intimidation she felt. Granted, she often felt intimidated by most everyone new. But Andria was near-by, ready to protect her and the crew should something happen. Even if she wasn’t, Aya doubted she had anything to fear. Often, those who took the time to stop at their little ship had little more than reading or learning on their minds.
