I decided not to adopt the puppy.
He was super sweet, and I hope they find him a good home.
He was just too big for us.
Remember how I said he was "1/2 Scottie, 1/2 miniature Schnauzer"?
Yeah, well, I added that 'miniature' part in there, it wasn't part of the actual description.
So I was expecting him to be Banky sized, maybe a little bigger, like 20-25 lbs.
Nope. He was probably 35-45 lbs.
Which is not huge, just more medium than I would prefer.
I feel like, at this point, if I bring another dog into the house, he should be the same size or smaller than Banky at that time. Even if he's going to grow, I think having a new dog be relatively the same size at first would work out best. And, honestly, I'd prefer a small dog.
Thanks for the suggestions for introducing the dogs!
We met in a church parking lot that had a lot of grassy areas.
After the first couple minutes, they didn't really give a shit about each other.
Huge thank you to Mar for taking the time to write me back with suggestions and ideas on how best to integrate a new dog into the family. It was very helpful and I'll be saving it for if/when the times comes to bring another pup into the mix.
