idk if anyone else has noticed this or pointed it out on here but recently we held the very lovely @rubypet at gunpoint to watch the markiplier egos lore and something it noticed in date during Dark's route is that when you shoot left or right Dark and Mark will react VERY DIFFERNTLY.

When you shoot Dark, Mark (or Actor whatever you wanna call him) seems to kinda just? not care?? He only apologizes once to you and treats the fact you literally had to shoot him or Dark like a small inconvenience at best.

BUT THEN when you shoot Mark Dark seems to care a lot more. Not only does he apologize profusely but he actually tries to reasure you and make sure you're ok. Als it sounds way more genuine and caring in contrast to Mark, who more or less had the tone of a teenage girl who saw a dead bug.

Now we could say this is Dark doing his false sense of security thing and luring you deeper in by pretending he cares about you,

HOWEVER

What if Dark Does actually care here?

ok ok i know i know, he pulls the "ahaha you fell for my bullshit ahaha" at the end which definitely proves that he's just manipulating us and doesnt care at all, but here me out: what if in that moment he realizes that getting back at Actor isn't worth putting us through the trauma. I say this☝️because if Dark's code in heist leading us to the bloopers (aka him saying he's quite literally aware this is all a set for Actor to mess around on) is anything to go by, maybe in that brief moment he realized that Actor likely isn't dead and everything he did wasn't worth it end because it'll all just start over again. ANNND thats why when he drops his guise yet again, he says we "made the wrong choice" since he knows everything was futile and nothing good really happened for you or him in this case and Actor is just going to start everything over again until we get the true ending.

So when do we as a fandom decide if iron lung mark is an ego, and if he is: is he new or actor mark?

If its actor mark that makes things so fun. But i understand keeping it separate from marks other works because iron lung is in just a whole new world.

Yet again if its actor mark, fanfictions are gonna go wild the bts moments

Edit: saw the movie and it was 100/10 loved that a lot of the cast was people he’s had working with him for almost if not, over a decade. Love the support circle Mark built to be able to go from youtube to full sold out cinemas for a 2hr movie

“Mark, I’m serious, I need to talk to you about something.”

He holds the rose between his teeth, glancing back at you in the mirror as he does his eyeliner.

“I’n lishening!”

You feel mildly defeated, having your feelings dismissed in such a casual manner. For a moment like this, you really wish that he would be giving you his undivided attention. Your stomach twists and knots, making it difficult to bite back the words that sit on the tip of your tongue. It feels as though your vision is spinning, desperately trying to get a foothold as your heart starts steering the ship.

When you remain silent, Mark raises an eyebrow at you. He caps his eyeliner pen, moving onto mascara. The rose keeps his lips in that same forced smile that you see him perform on stage all the time. Slightly pained, shining in the spotlight to draw attention from what is lurking in the shadows behind. You ring your hands together in a nervous attempt to grip onto reality stronger. But your fingertips release as you start sliding down the steep slope into the deep pit where you have shoved down your feelings.

Fuck. Now is a terrible time to confess to him. Minutes away from walking on stage and putting on a show just like every other night, and here you are taking up his limited time in his dressing room. What if he rejects you? What if he laughs in your face and turns your confession into the next punch line for his audience to gawk at? Then there is the other part of you that is scared of him getting hurt again after what happened with Celine. You love him far too much to see his heartache once again, especially at your hand.

Mark quirks an eyebrow at you, wondering why you’re so silent despite giving you the floor to speak your mind. He watches you struggle to form the words, wringing your hands together as the cogs keep turning. It then dawns on him, softening his heart as he approaches you, taking your hands in his as he gives you the rose that stayed between his teeth.

“I love you too.”

A wave of relief washes over you like a warm hug, which he quickly wraps you in one of his own. You blink back the tears of worry that had built themselves up, not wanting to ruin his performance attire.

“I always will, and that’s a promise.”
