long story short (not really)
When Mark made his public Discord Server, Markiplier Manor, a bunch of us decided to change our name to Jim (with variants, for example I was Blanket Jim cause I kept handing out blankets). Eventually we decided to make a twitter and instagram where we would report things, both real things and bigs things that happened on the server so people could stay updated if they wanted, and we called them both Official Jim News (or Jim News Official, I canāt remember which now)
Not long after this Mark had a twitch stream and one of our members posted in the chat about the instagram and twitter, and Mark noticed. He got very defensive very quickly and, as close to quoting as I can get here, said,Ā āoh, thatās very funny, how itās theĀ āOfficial Jim Newsā, when you didnāt invent the Jims, theyāre not your characters.ā In the end the names were changed to Jim News 8 because of this
Which, to me, is really kinda dumb?? Iām a writer, I get holding characters near and dear to your heart, but like..you released these characters out into the world for others to enjoy and now youāre gonna police how they enjoy them? We were trying to have fun and there was no reason at all to lean in towards the camera all cold and angry like we just threatened to kill Chica
Iām sorry, I just took it really personally because a lot of the other Jims were honest to god scared he was gonna come into our chatroom on the server and get pissy at us personally for it or something of that ilk and that upset me
I get it, I do, but that was not an okay way to react or handle that in the least
