“Okay, so um, I tried cookies. They seemed easier even though they’re not that exciting.” She said, placing the tray of chocolate chip cookies in front of Andras and stepping back to watch his reaction.

The cookies were misshapen and too thin, having spread out more than expected in the oven, but they weren’t burnt despite having stuck to the baking sheet around the edges.

Hel knows better than to stare. She was taught better. And yet.. Her eyes dare not pull themselves from the vibrant soul wrapped within an almost mundane visage. Curiosity had always been her weakspot. A burning desire to know and understand how things worked, who people were and what stories she could glean.

Tilting her head to the side slowly, Hel unabashedly stared at Andras. Trying to gather as much information as her god-eyes could gather before he called her out or she was called away.

Palm trees quietly whooshed in the early evening's breeze. The sky overhead was a flat, metallic gray. It was going to rain soon, a line of low, heavy clouds approaching slowly from the churning black sea. In the distance, the boardwalk was beginning to vacate, the colorful LEDs adorning the Ferris wheel twinkling in the haze.

The storefront overhead was simple, but elegant. Shiny bronze tint obscured what happened behind the floor length windows. Upon a glossy black fascia, the word "Serapis" glowed, the sign's design matching the text on the business card in his hand. Her card.

She couldn't bring a little goofy, a little childish this time of year. The actual harbingers of seasons were running rampant with Spring, and Whisper was basking in the thrumming energy of it all. Her gallivanting along the treetops paused with a little spin, and she flopped back to lay along the topmost greenery as if it were a field of flowers. A giggle in her throat and she stretched. Careful of her left shoulder as Whisper absorbed the gentle warmth of the sun. Slowly she half sunk into the leaves surrounding her, the seams of her being interlocking with the fresh growth.

The sound of wings were coming closer, louder than any animal in the area. Her eyes opened to see the vibrant red of Andras's wings approaching. "Hello, dear! Out enjoying the weather, too?"

"You've got a lot of time, lover," Metatron murmurs. "We have a lot of time." He laughs a little. "Felt weird for me too, when I realized I love you. I thought that was... never something I'd get to have again. And then you came along like a fuckin' whirlwind." He kisses Andras's temple. "You still make me dizzy~"

This time he's just going to pick Whisper up for an enthusiastic hug.

A small shriek of delighted surprise as Andras scooped her up. Whisper couldn't help but laugh. Every year a bit of warmth was added to the mother's day greeting. It did her heart good each time.
