Mallet Meditations and Translucent Touch are twin tracks, both based on a guitar track by Signal Box but taken in kindred directions by two different artists.
Mallet Meditations
The guitar by Signal Box is a steady river that grows and widens, the melody by Heath carving out the landscape through which the river passes. Some parts of the melody float on top while others are more submerged. Chimes hover, dart, and play, and elements mix and sometimes reverse, creating a feeling of stasis and flow in both directions of time.
Translucent Touch
The guitar by Signal Box evokes summer and the mayfly, a little creature with no functional mouthpart which usually dies very soon after its mating flight. Just like the mayfly, this track’s melody (created on a toy piano by chichi) is ephemeral, delicate and beautiful. This piece has plenty of surprises as it slowly builds to a cinematic close.
