Marlo Visits the Griffith Observatory

Marlo the pig likes to get out of the city every once in a while, and the Griffith Observatory is a great place to get above the hubbub. Free to visit and open ever day until 10pm, the observatory is not only a great place to find out more about space and science, but it's also a great place for a short hike and a picnic after work. The observatory is kid-friendly, with great exhibits and videos for the whole family to enjoy, beautiful vistas of Los Angeles and the Hollywood sign, and a large telescope. Check the schedule for the telescope, but if it's open it's worth the wait. Seeing the moon so close on a BIG telescope is quite an experience. Parking in the lot at the top can be tough, especially on a busy night, but there is parking along the road leading up to it, and at the base of the hill on Vermont ave. I like to take the trail up from here and enjoy the views of Los Angeles as I go.
