“Throw your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care!’
The second clone army is here. This is a colony of Marmorkrebs, or Marbled Crayfish! A customer brought them in and gave me all 46 for twenty bucks. Now it's just time to breed them up as treats for Morgan.
Marmorkrebs aka Self cloning marbled crayfish: asexual reproduction, all females that produce exact replications of themselves. Can grow up to 5 inches long and carry clutches up to 1000 These are mine, just arrived today. Follow for more of my aquarium updates :)
The marmorkrebs I got earlier this month are doing well and the big one (who had only 3 legs and one claw left) has shed twice and has regained most of her walking legs! However yesterday she shed and tried to regenerate her right claw...it didn't exactly work out. It looks like something got confused in her limb bud around the second or third segment and the limb grew in both as a claw and as a walking leg, but the walking leg is rotated in the wrong direction to do any good? I don't think it'll regenerate correctly on the next shed either unless I clip it off at the second segment, but she's been through so much already that I really don't want to cause her any more strife. Besides, she's getting around and eating fine, I don't think it's medically necessary. I'll leave her be and keep feeding her good and see what happens.
Self cloning crayfish, marmorkrebs berried up with tons of clones :)
Traded 15 cherry culls and two hand lumps of Java moss for 6 of these cool cloning gals 😎
