CHAPTER 03

“Pink? Have you calmed down yet?”

Yellow listened for Pink, but it’s silent inside the chamber. “Are we at our pouting stage now? You may come out if you’re ready.” Silence rang out from the other side of the door in response. A sickening dread began to boil inside Yellow with each passing moment of this painful silence.

"Pink, I demand that you answer me at once!” Yellow bellowed. “What you are doing is entirely pointless and immature! You can’t accomplish anything by ignoring confrontation! Now answer me this instant or I will go get White! You don’t want me to go bother her for this, do you?”

She strained her senses to pick up any sort of sign that Pink was even still in the chamber. After several long moments, she wasn’t able to detect the smaller diamond. Had she somehow escaped? Or was she just acting out in some sort of protest by not speaking with Yellow? The larger of the two diamonds in question felt hurt by this silent treatment, and had had quite enough of it.

With a huff of annoyance, Yellow activated the door to the chamber. She peered into the dim room, but she quickly froze when she was met with an unthinkable sight.

The smallest diamond’s gem was lying still on the ground. Pink had been destabilized.

“No,” Yellow whispered to herself in horror. "Pink, no. No! What happened?! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!”

CHAPTER 04

It was uncertain how long the three diamonds waited for their smallest to reform. Blue spent much of this time curled up on White’s floor, cradling Pink’s gem in her hands as her mind buzzed with anxiety. Poor little Pink. How frightened she must have been when she was destabilized. Who could have done this to her? Who could have wanted to hurt the most precious diamond ever to be created?

Meanwhile, Yellow was struggling with her own worries as she paced White’s room continuously. How could someone have done this? How could someone have destabilized a diamond? What kind of weapon could they have used? Was it even a gem that did this? Perhaps a vengeful alien lifeform had somehow made its way into Pink’s tower and used some foreign weapon to attack her.

As the other two diamonds juggled several different concerns in their own minds, White Diamond busied herself with her usual tasks on her holo-screen. She tried her best not to worry about Pink Diamond as she knew that the little one would reform when she was ready. Who had done this? They would find out soon enough. Were they currently in danger? White had organized extra security outside of her room. Her main focus was to make sure no one found out about the destabilization of Pink Diamond.

Who knows how the lower lifeforms would react to such troubling news, White Diamond thought. They can be so rash in their actions. The last thing we need right now is to let misinformation spread.

“Oh my stars!”

White was torn from her work by Blue’s words. She and Yellow approached Blue as the small pink gem began to levitate in her hands. Light emitted from it that shaped itself into a  bipedal form. With a final glimmer, the light solidified to reveal Pink Diamond’s new form.

“Pink!” Blue exclaimed as tears of relief bloomed in her eyes. She moved to nuzzle her face against Pink, but the little diamond quickly hopped out of Blue’s hands in rejection. The relief quickly turned to pain “P…Pink?”

Pink Diamond silently glared up at the three larger gems, arms crossed.

“Pink, what happened?!” Yellow demanded. “How did you become destabilized?! What did that to you?!”

Pink still said nothing but now her eyes flashed with a fiery rage.

“Starlight?” White said, stepping forward. She calmly gazed down at the little diamond but her eyes matched the intensity in Pink’s. “You will answer us when asked a question. Now tell us how you became destabilized.”

Pink found that she couldn’t keep up this silent treatment any longer. “It was you,” she said quietly.

“Whom, Starlight?”

“You!” Pink shouted. “All of you did this to me! I couldn’t stand to be alone anymore!” She couldn’t keep her composure any longer. She dropped to her knees as tears spilled down her face. “I-I couldn’t stand the solitary silence! I couldn’t take being in that dark room anymore! I can’t be alone! I can’t! It hurts too much!” She started sobbing as a panic attack set in. “I missed Pearl! I missed Spinel! I missed–” She cut herself off purposefully with sobs. She didn’t want to tell them how much she’d missed each diamond.

“That doesn’t answer the initial question, Starlight,” White said. “How did you destabilize?”

“I DID IT TO MYSELF!”
