Spent the last few hours cutting this from my slab, sanding, and polishing it. I made a mess of my living room but it was worth it. This is lovely. I can't wait to make a necklace out of it.

So this is my lovely slab of Marra Mamba tigers eye.

I’ve never been a fan of regular tigers eye, it just always seemed “cheap” to me, but maybe that’s just because I’ve never seen a good piece of jewelry or a nice polished slab.

I absolutely had to get my hands on some of this though. Not only do I share a name with it (Though mine is spelled Mara), but the place it was mined from is a mountain that also bears my last name. So crazy. I couldn’t even believe it when I read about it.

Also it’s freaking beautiful. I didn’t even get a “nice” piece with a lot of chatoyance but it’s still awesome. I can’t wait to cut a cab or two out and polish them up. I absolutely love the combination of warm reds, oranges, and golds with the layers of hematite.

Marra Mamba Tiger Eye with Blue Crocidolite seams from Hamersley Range in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. ( This source was mined out over 20 years ago).  True Marra Mamba Tiger's eye comes only from this area and is extremely rare.
