Communication (coldwave, pg-13)

Title: Communication

Summary: Len lets Mick patch him up after their fists do the talking. Reaction to Legends of Tomorrow 1x10. (Part of the married!coldwave series.)

“We had a deal, Mick. Kill me and you walk.” Len sucked in a quiet breath, doing his best to ignore the shooting pain in his head. “That’s what you wanted, isn’t it?” To be rid of me. “To get off the team?”

“I don’t know what I want anymore.” Mick sounded resigned. “Truth is it doesn’t matter.”

Len wanted to look at him, to try and get a read of his partner’s face, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Instead he closed his eyes and said, “What are you talking about?”

“Whether I stay or leave, I’m dead.” Mick paused, and Len could feel his gaze. “We’re all dead.”

Len let out a quiet groan as he heaved his bent leg around to lie flat on the ground. “Well I ain’t ready to die just yet.”

Mick was silent for a moment, contemplative, and then he sighed. “Let’s get you cleaned up.” He stood and held his hand down to Len, jerking his head toward the door. “C’mon. I have some things to tell the crew.”

Len groaned again as he let Mick pull him up, and he was startled to find Mick’s hands on his waist, steadying him.

“You okay there, buddy?”

Space (coldwave, pg)

Title: Space

Summary:   Len goes to visit Mick every day. ( Part of the married!coldwave series.)

Len liked his personal space. He didn’t appreciate feeling crowded and those who knew him knew to keep a respectful distance.

Mick was the only exception.

When they first partnered up it had been a nuisance. The man didn’t seem to understand the concept of being too close--he was always in someone’s space. But over time his presence became a given, something Len actually missed when it was gone. It was...comforting.

They had spent time apart before. It wasn’t anything new for him to find himself with all the space in the world. He would sleep with Mick’s pillow, wear Mick’s favorite undershirt, and keep a handful of lighters nearby to make up for his lack of husband.

Things were different this time, though. Mick was gone, but he was present. Locked up in the brig, locked up in his head, caring about nothing other than vengeance.

It was unsettling, seeing Mick so focused on something that didn’t involve a flame.

Scarred (coldwave, pg-13)

Title: Scarred

Summary:   Mick contemplates Len's scars. ( Part of the married!coldwave series.)

Warnings: Past self-harm and child abuse.

A/N: This got pretty dark. I wasn’t originally going for that, but Mick just kind of...went there. [ColdWave Week 2016 - Day 2: Domestic Life]

Mick lazily flipped through the channels until he landed on the one he was looking for. Just as he set the remote down, a loud commercial came blaring over the speakers. He started and Len groaned in his lap.

“Sorry,” he muttered as he hit the volume button.

Len mumbled something that Mick couldn't make out and turned on his side, his nose pressed into Mick’s abdomen. Mick scratched the base of Len’s neck and smiled as his partner drifted off again.

It was the middle of July and they were squatting in a house that had no air conditioner. Mick didn’t mind too much--the heat never really bothered him. But Lenny liked it cold, always said that it was easier to bundle up than it was to cool down because there was only so much clothing you could take off.

What he didn’t say was that he hated taking his clothes off.

Title: Identity

Ship: Mick/Len

Summary: Mick asks Len to help him blow off some steam. -OR- Mick doesn’t care about labels but he humors Lenny. (Part of the married!coldwave series.)

The bar fight had been...invigorating. Nothing got Mick's blood pumping quite like a good old-fashioned brawl.

(Watching the building burn down would have been a glorious ending to a glorious night, but Mick resisted--they were supposed be legends these days, after all.)

So when he and Len retired to their cramped little room on the ship, Mick was still full of energy. They changed into pajamas (Len put on a thermal shirt and a pair of blue pants with snowflakes that Lisa has gotten him one Christmas, Mick stripped down to his boxers) and climbed into bed, but he felt too fired up to sleep.

Summary: Len’s priority is Mick. (Reaction to Legends of Tomorrow 1x05. Part of the married!coldwave series.)

“I wouldn't do that if I were you. Dr. Vostock used him for one of her smallpox weapons trials.”

From the corner of his eye Len saw Raymond, beaten and bruised, being manhandled by guards. His heart raced but he didn't allow his facial expression to change.

“Highly contagious,” he said to the guard in front of him.

The man dropped the sheet and stepped aside.

Len pushed the gurney past the guard and his eyes zeroed in on the one thing he had been desperate to see.

Mick.

They locked gazes, Len pushing a not-so-dead body and Mick being pushed by a couple of guards. Mick stared too long--one of the guards got impatient and punched him in the gut.

Len felt his own gut clench, but Mick had survived much worse.

And Len was going to rescue him.

Driving Lessons (coldwave, pg)

Anonymous prompted: since Len doesn't like driving but Lisa has a commercial driver's license, does that mean Mick is the one that taught her?

“Mick!” Lisa ran up to him, her eyes wide and innocent. “Darling brother-in-law. Light of my life.”

Uh oh. “What is it, Lis?”

“No need to sound so suspicious, Mickey. I just wanted to ask you a teeny, tiny favor.”

Mick raised an eyebrow (a trait he had picked up from Len because apparently it wasn’t possible to spend time with the guy and not pick up his eyebrow-raising). “Yeah?”

“You see,” she wound her arm through his and walked him toward the car. “I'm going to be sixteen next year. Which means that I can get my driver’s license.”

When they finally, finally got back to the Waverider Len didn’t even have the energy to be angry. He just collapsed into bed, clothes and all, and pulled Mick down with him.

His partner smelled awful, he had dirt and blood all over his face, and his clothes were torn. But he was here and alive and Len couldn’t bring himself to care about the other stuff just yet.

“You always were a sucker for a pretty face,” Mick mumbled into his chest.

“What?”

“Palmer told me that you actually went after that woman.”

Len scoffed. “That had nothing to do with her looks, Mick. Raymond wasn’t going to take the damn thing offline and--”

“Wasn’t talking about the woman, Lenny.”

Oh. “Shut up, Mick.”

Mick furrowed his eyebrows. “What’re you talkin’ about, boss?”

“1629 Hadley Avenue.”
