How would you describe the similarities and differences between Namor's relationship with Dorma and Marrina? We love them both ofc
of course we love them both!
With Lady Dorma, there's the childhood friends to "why can't he see me/see I'm in love with him" to lovers trope and I really love that. Dorma was one of the few who was Namor's biggest supporter and genuinely cared about him to put her life at risk time and time again to help or save him. Her loyalty and fiery personality are qualities I admire about her and I feel like Lady Dorma and Namor work as a couple because they have that same vibe of high maintenance bitches who get shit done. Dorma was called the heart of altantis/the people, so losing her was a severe blow not just to Namor but to all the citizens since she was the people's princess.
With Marrina there was that sweet "facisnation at first sight to lovers" trope and Marrina's personality is very different than Dorma's. She is much sweeter and kinder in a way that Dorma isn't. I often think of Marrina as soft waves to Dorma's tempest. I adore her kind heart so much. She and Namor were both "other" in the way there wasn't anyone else like them so I feel that also drew them together because they could understand that loneliness in each other.
I feel like the similarities are that Dorma and Marrina are both very loyal to their people, Dorma to Atlanteans, Marrina to her team/adopted humanity in general. Both of them gave up their lives to save others, Dorma to save Namor, and Marrina to save innocent humans whom she would have killed if she had kept rampaging. Both deeply loved Namor in a genuine way and their deaths haunt his narrative for decades.
The differences to me are more character personality types, I think of Marrina as a still pond that has deep water, pretty on the surface but watch out for what lurks beneath. While for Dorma she is a tempest storm, tsunami level waves when angered and the threat of the sea always under her skin.
