No books at the moment*, but a bunch of fanfic online like Kyoshi: Swan Song; Opal, Ruby, Sapphire & Steven; and Emerald Hill Book 1: The Kitsune.

*:I was reading ‘Red Mars’ by K. S. Robinson a while ago, but I reached the end of the free sample… Now that I’m back in the UK, I can look for it in the library!

13) Name a book with a really bad movie adaptation

Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman. So much potential, so much...

I’m about as bitter about this as the story of The Tower of Babel. Humans were co-operating and God thought “Nah, too boring. No conflict. Lemme completely disorientate the entire species by creating language barriers.”

18) Which character from a book is the most like you?

I spent all night thinking about this, and mentally flicking through my book history to arrive at Mad-Eye Moody from the Harry Potter series. I feel like Moody’s battle readiness and “constant vigilance” reflect my hyper-awareness.

19) Which character from a book is the least like you?

Henry DeTamble from Audrey Niffenegger’s 'The Time Traveler’s Wife’. That guy had some serious issues, man. I mean, in general he was a cool dude. And of course losing his mother to a car accident (and his father to alcohol) at such an early age had to be really damaging. That, and the fact that his body constantly jerked him forwards and backwards in time like some temporal rag-doll…

Regardless, this dude really fucked up. He caused his wife untold misery, and in a sense, groomed her from a very young age which led to her infatuation with him in the first place.

Plus, he masturbated with himself. Like, he traveled back in time to two weeks ago, and masturbated with a younger version of himself. That was a weird scene.

I’m just saying that, if I was him, I’d keep my distance from everyone.

40) Name one of you favourite books from your childhood years

'Sons of Destiny’ by Darren Shan was trippy as heck. I don’t remember all that much about it, or the series, but I know it’s the reason I gave Twilight a chance. It was my first encounter with YA vampire fiction, and I had loved the previous 11 books in the series. The book was a fever dream from start to finish! The protagonist spends most of it in this bizarro universe created by the God of Fate (who we later find out is his father) and he gets the choice to travel back in time and stop himself from ever becoming a half-vampire.

It was great. Pushed all the right buttons in teenage Jacob’s heart.
