In the last 5 years in the United States and its territories, trans deaths have increased. This deaths are at the intersection of racism, sexism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia & unchecked access to guns.
Here are some notable facts I found while combing through the cases:
☑While many other states have had #trans murders, the South dominate the list compared to any other regions
☑While trans women/femme make up predominately most of the murders by far, I think its important to note that if you look at just the trans men/masculine who were murdered, 40% were killed by the Police State🚫
☑While the details of these cases differ, it is clear that fatal violence disproportionately affects transgender women/femme of color – particularly darker skinned Black transgender women/femme with Latinx women/femme and Native transfolks following as the next most impacted demographic.🚫
☑I think that its important to note that most of the homicide involved intimate partners and firearms
☑These stats aligns with cisgender women/femme national stats in regards to intimate partner homicide🚫
