Hey Nonny! THANK YOU FOR THE ASK I HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG IT’S BEEN HERE! I am ALWAYS down to headcanon shit about those two!
So, soft HCS:
first things first, Martin’s the little spoon, even though he’s like a foot taller than Emeline
when he’s not the little spoon he’s definitely sleeping with his head on her chest to hear her heartbeat
pretty much the only time Martin sleeps well is when Emeline’s nearby tbh boy’s gotta get his head out of that book!
Emeline is fairly guarded, and Martin is pretty much the first person she’s let her guard down in front of in a while.
Martin has a hard time with self-disclosure, especially with the Sanguine thing. That might already be canon. Oh well. Emeline is the first person in a long time he feels he can trust with this info.
WHICH ISN’T TO SAY they don’t have their individual friends within the Blades
You know that cutesy couple that just look like they’re having the best time ever alone in their apt without people around? That’s Marteline
Akatosh be good, you should see the way Martin looks at Emeline when she’s not looking. He looks at her like she’s a super blood moon. Emeline looks at him in a similar way.
They have this inside sorta joke that they’re going to elope to Anvil once the Oblivion Crisis is over. Warm lavendar on the windowsills, sea breeze, warm air, perhaps a couple curly-haired little monsters running about…
When they can get away with it (ie when no one’s looking), they always are touching. In particular, Martin likes to drape a leg over Emeline’s lap. Gods only know why.
Emeline’s hair is super curly, and Martin loves to twist it around his fingers like tiny ribbons.
And now, because this is a tragedy, let’s talk angst
Their relationship is super duper top secret. As in nobody knew until Emeline literally spelled it out for Jauffre… like a year and a half after Martin’s demise.
Neither of them believes they are good enough to be in a relationship with the other person.
They pretend pretty well, but neither of them actually believe they’ll make the Anvil dream a reality.
Cloud Ruler Temple is actually attacked, like, a lot by the Mythic Dawn, so every time Emeline goes off on her little fetch quests she wonders if this will be the time she returns to a funeral for her friends and/or Martin
After Martin dies, Emeline is like, regular depressed, but then she has Leta and actually goes through Postpartum Depression as well, because the pain never stops my dude
Also she like… moves in Benirius Manor directly after the whole dragon thing and. Like. she doesn’t handle the ghosts real well. Something about how she’s the only one allowed to wander her home wailing at night? She totally doesn’t feel like a ghost of her former self??!
but like also don’t take this as like a wahhhhh my boyfriend died and i’m sad it’s more like i keep people alive for a living and i’ve failed so many times and especially so with people i love what good am i?
Both Martin and Emeline have really bad nightmares, but they both try to hide it so neither of them gets comforted.
Emeline sleeps in Martin’s room before they become a couple while she’s on guard duty, because the last time she wasn’t in the room with the person she loved, her lover died of a brain aneurysm, because the pain never stops
By the time they meet each other, neither Martin or Emeline has living parents.
Martin absolutely had to watch everything Emeline went through after his death through the veil, and Divines was there a ruckus in Aetherius for a while. Or perhaps he was just banging against the confines of a marble cage? :))))))))
ALSO. Emeline can’t get the blessing from the statue. I think this was a bug in my game for some reason, but I hc it’s because she’s literally like…. fuck the divines if this is what happens to men like Martin
Leta, their daughter, never knows her parents; she grows up unknowing, in Cloud Ruler Temple. I won’t give away why that is, but… draw your conclusions.
Emeline’s a victim of child abuse. There’s not much else to be said there.
By the time/if Martin ever figures out how to move through planes of Aetherius and Oblivion, Emeline doesn’t remember him - she mantles Sheogorath, and most of the time the coin is Sheo side up.
Also because of his sacrifice with the dragon once she mantles Sheo she can never step foot on Nirn again so that’s fun
Speaking of Sheoline
She wipes all mention of herself from Nirn (basically that’s my explanation why everyone knows Martin and no one knows the HOK) because she wants to protect Leta from Mythic Dawn stragglers and the factions warring for the Ruby Throne.
All mention excepting a little wooden box hidden under the floorboards of the Emperor’s chambers in Cloud Ruler
That box contains her journals, around sixty sigil stones, and a thin gold wedding band

Martin absolutely gave Emeline his mother’s jewelry as a promise to stay together regardless of what happened and who may approve (which? really? who’s gonna challenge the one person who kept the Emperor alive for two years while people repeatedly tried to kill him?), but WE KNOW HOW THAT WENT
