Well, that’s the end of that bottle of Martell, which is sad, cos this particular VSOP expression has been discontinued and replaced with the Red Barrels VSOP. . This is adapted from Harry Craddock’s 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book. Like many spirit-forward cognac cocktails, the VSOP stands out immediately, while the combination of the two vermouths give a Manhattan-like vibe, punctuated by the distinct anise notes of the absinthe.
