Yesterday felt like spring: the streets of Paris were busting with smiling people, eager to live and to discover great art again, almost like before! A great discovery was at @thaddaeusropac, with the first solo show of the Austrian Martha Jungwirth. I was impressed by the huge oil on paper paintings, the mysterious animal like shapes, isolated on the huge canvas, as if they had just escaped a human predator. I also liked the female figures, painted with powerful brushstrokes. Jungwirth created a series of untitled works in 2017 by tearing the heavy paper lining her studio floor (with years of accumulated marks and paint splatters) into sheets that she used as backgrounds to elaborate upon.
