Subak, the ancient ancestor of Korean martial arts, predates Taekwondo and was recorded in the Samguk Sagi chronicle and tomb murals from the Goguryeo kingdom (37 BC). Unlike Taekwondo, Subak was a complete combat system, including long-range kicks, mid-range strikes, close-range joint locks, throws, and penetrating joint destruction attacks.
