2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

My favorite canon thing about Marty McFly is that he's a musician! Music is very important and personal thing to me. It's something I believe in, much as I imagine Marty does. It's not just something he does. He's naturally driven by it under everything else. I love that.

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

When I was writing the Time Circuits series, I had a gargantuan playlist, and the most "Marty" song on it was "You Might Think" by The Cars. It just felt like a great 80s pre-time travel teenage Marty song, and I still instantly think of him when I hear it!

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

Mammett.

21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?

I love when I get to opportunity to write one of Marty's big run-on sentences. You have to say it out loud and rehearse it yourself to make sure it makes sense on the page, and I'm good at those! I also like giving him the opportunity to have The Idea. Because, like Marty, I super enjoy the rare victory I have in thinking of something before the Smartest Person I Know. Marty's more emotionally intelligent, and getting to show that that's just as important as being intelligent enough to build atom bombs and time machines is great.

I don't like to let him be passive. And that can be easy when Doc's in the middle of a big exposition scene. I need Marty to ask questions, poke things, but also have his mind wander because he's seventeen. At some point, his little ADHD attention span probably does tune out some of The Plan. But if Doc is spending a whole chapter explaining something, Marty can't just sit there and nod. He's got to participate, even if he's not participating.

-Turf war rival of Marty! The two wanna be bands often go head to head (they are both perfect 4v4!)

-They met when Needles was another weird Octoling that moved over ground. Basically cue their IDW backstory

-He acts tough but Needles is like. B rank in Anarchy at best.
