Mera Custom Action Figure

So this action figure has a funny history... I originally wanted to turn her into Helena Kosmatos Fury, but gave up when I realized how impossible it would be to carve her delicate chainmail. So I decided to use the figure (marvel select arachne + random 3d modelled head my friend gave me from a variety pack they bought) to make mera. Since I already knew I hated doing a ton of intricate repetitive detail, i couldn't do any of mera's fish-scale outfits (or chainmail, whatever you call it), so i was stuck with pre 2011 stuff... I decided on Aquaman vol 3 because the hair did not work with a crown (silver age mera has) and I asked my friend for advice on which one looked better and he said aquaman vol 3 outfit :P

i think it works for the angry face its mera at her most mariticidal :P

Coming from Marvel Select, it's the Crimson Dynamo! After their spectacular Titanium Man, I was pumped to see them announce this! It looked fantastic in every image they posted.

That's the thing, really. It looks fantastic, but poseability isn't great. The shiny red paint looks gorgeous, the sculpt earns high marks, and the accessories are all pretty great. Three faceplates, unmasked head, and a couple pairs of hands, including blast effect ones. However, articulation leaves something to be desired. Mainly the legs and elbows. Both are somehow worse than the much bulkier Titanium Man. Elbows in particular are downright pitiful. I guess they're concessions somewhat inherent to the design, but it's still disappointing.

So, while Dynamo here doesn't impress as much as his titanic green predecessor, don't get me wrong. He's still pretty good. In terms of scale, I don't think he meshes with 6 inch stuff quite as well either, but still fudgeable overall. Unlike Titanium Man, I can see the possibility of Hasbro topping this one IF they put their best foot forward with a new mold that focuses on stronger articulation.
