Marvellous ME! for Ages 6-8 #kidsyoga #KidsStAlbert

Feb.7th-March 14th Tuesday's 4:30-5:30pm 6-8 year olds $90 for 6 sessions.

This 6 week workshop will give your child the opportunity to explore themselves through the use of stories, games, relaxation, and yoga.

Together we explore topics on self esteem, social emotional learning, friendship and anxiety. This class will provide your child with tools and strategies they need to cope and thrive in their day to day lives.

Since it’s #BlackOut today, and Tumblr is celebrating black beauty, I thought I’d do a special post highlighting a few books written to raise the self-esteem of black children and help them to love the way they look! 

Big Hair, Don’t Care by Crystal Swain-Bates: Lola’s hair is bigger than anyone else’s at school, but that doesn’t stop her from being so proud of it that she’ll tell anyone how much she loves her hair! This beautifully written tale reminds boys and girls that it’s okay to look different, but it’s even better to be proud of that!

Marvelous Me by Lisa Bullard: Alex is like other people in some ways, but unique in others, yet he still learns to love himself. A great tale for teaching children self-acceptance when they’re not happy about being “different” to everyone else.

I Love My Hair! by Natasha Tarpley: Keyana is unhappy with her hair, as it’s difficult to manage and the kids at school tease her for it. But her mother and teacher encourage Keyana to love her hair and her heritage, and so Keyana does, realising that both she and her hair are beautiful.
