It did look familiar, and Mary racked her brain to try and figure out why. The cowboy hat brought two options to mind, and she didn’t think it was Josh since there wasn’t any sort of sense of divinity emanating from the infant.
Cautiously picking him up and carefully supporting him, she tried for a small smile. “Hello, Noble? Is that you?”

Mary blinked, not trying at all to hide her wariness. She had total faith in her friend, of course, but a fair amount of warning bells were hitting her at Matilda’s explanation of her intended plans from them. “Ah, forgive me for being a bit over worrisome, but are you quite sure this is safe?”

Mary had knocked on her door half a dozen times, risking another glance around. Pitch was worrisome but she wanted to make sure Jade was okay as Jaxon left her.
“I won’t stay long, I just want to know if you’re alright...”
Humming to herself, Mary walked along the sidewalk as though she were balancing on a tightrope or a bar, one foot after the other. Her sight had returned more or less to normal finally so she’d wanted to go sight seeing. She’d done her best to look inconspicuous so she could look around without much worry, with a hat pressed down over her messy curls to hide the worst of the bleeding.

It was easy for Mary to sneak into places with her powers. Even easier to estimate whether or not it was inhabited, though she had to whether an unpleasant amount of dust and grime on the mirrors’ surfaces to step through when she found an adequate one.
Sneezing at the dust, she started to dust herself off and walk around to investigate the place. She at least wanted the lay out of the house before she decided to stay, even if it seemed abandoned,
