Q&A with Mary Ping of Slow and Steady Wins the Race:

What are you working on?  Production, development of new collections, some interesting collaborations, and museum exhibits. 

What are you reading? Pirates and Farmers by Dave Hickey.

Where do you go to eat with friends? Sobaya, Souen, Takashi.

Where do you go to eat with clients? Anywhere in Paris.

Where do you go to eat alone? Shopsin's.

What is your greatest extravagance? It's a tie between a first-edition book or a really good archival piece of clothing.

What is your favorite title of an artwork? The Foam Sculptures (John Chamberlain). They are mostly all untitled, but as a body I like that they are simply the Foam Sculptures.

In which building would you like to live? I love my neighborhood. I lucked out on an entire floor of a townhouse, so I'd love a whole townhouse. I do have an affinity for the Gainsborough Studios and Hotel des Artistes, which were the original artist studio residences. 

What is your sartorial signature? Monogrammed Belgian Loafers.

What is your current obsession? Chairs!

What should you get rid of? Unnecessary paperwork. 

What looks good? A clean surface.

What’s left undone? Ideas. Always.
