I have been avoiding looking at reviews online because they can be quite depressing. But I was so happy to see yesterday that Mary has a 5 star rating on Amazon 😮 Thank you so much to all the kind souls who have taken time to write a review!!! I was crying as I read them. You have no idea how much it means to me that you like the book enough to write a glowing review 😭❤️😭 This is my favorite one, thank you whoever wrote this: "This is a beautifully illustrated book. The story is of Mary and her pet lizard that follows her to school and gets into trouble there. There are no words but the pictures are all so lively and colorful they very clearly convey what's going on. Sometimes I'm turned off by wordless books but this one was very easy to talk through with my kids and they squealed seeing the lizard creep over the teacher's shoulder and laughed at the kids' expressions. My 4 year old wants to read like his older brother but doesn't know how yet so it really made him feel special that he could "read" this book and he even "read" it to his grandmother. As another reviewer noted there are kids/characters of all colors in the book so the odds are your kid will see someone that looks like them. I also like that gender stereotypes are subtly challenged...Mary is a girly girl but can still like lizards. We checked out this book from our library but the illustrations are so nice it's worth having in your home library or giving as a gift.
