There's nothing worse than a boring alphabet book, but there's also not much better than a clever one, particularly one that appeals to more than just toddlers, and therefore doesn't outlive its time on the bookshelf too fast. "Hannah's Tall Order: an A to Z Sandwich" (2018), by Linda Vander Heyden and Kayla Harren, is one of the more fun takes on the alphabet that I've seen. Harren's exaggerated, cartoony artwork has a bit of a throwback, 1980s feel, which pairs beautifully with this witty story about a little girl who wants the strangest-sounding sandwich ever.
