We have decorated our mini tree and placed it in the Speakeasy where it shall be enjoyed by many this holiday season! Our tree has none of the ornaments we care about on it because it's little branches don't hold much weight but I kind of love it this way! We tucked pieces of silk flowers from our wedding in just to make it not match even more 🤣 our 3 year anniversary is this week so we made sure to put some of our fun wedding ornaments out around the house for fun! I'll be putting the wood burnings I made throughout the house in window sills, shelves and bookcases and will be closing the night watching classic Christmas movies and drinking hot chocolate 🤘 thank you for hanging out this weekend! Turns out we're a little late for local tree shopping!! My favorite local place @walthergardens ordered 1500 trees and they're down to their final 30, all of which are adorable minis!! If you're looking for a cute tree or tasteful natural decor, this is the place to go! On top of trees, they've got a few gift shops on the lot that are full of great items and warm cider! They've also got an assortment of sweets and beautiful loose eucalyptus, pine, birch and more! Can't wait to put this little cutie up! Hello again! Happy Sunday! Another busy morning that started with arranging some small Christmas trees on our main livingroom shelf. I think later I'll add some lights and maybe even string some warm glow ones around the whole living room for good festive measure! My other two dogs (Dewey beagle & Tuna bluetick mix) love this time of year and will definitely be found napping under the tree later! For now, I'm on my way to my hometown of Frederick to pick up any leftover inventory from a two week popup I got to do at @takerootplants - if you're a plant person, head to Frederick and check out this shop! I could spend all day in there! I'll also be meeting up with my partners at @meetplantlove to drop off custom pots they had me make for a pot your own plant workshop they'll be doing at Cushwa Brewing this week! If the stars align I'll get to stop by bakehouse for some breakfast pastries before heading back to Overlea to get our Christmas tree locally! The fun has just begun at @mobtownbrewing !! Everyone is setup with tons of awesome gift options! @snakehillgrill is here serving up delicious foods and Mobtown has 18 beers on tap and a huge selection to pick from to make your own custom case! After moving to Overlea from Fells, I appreciate a good city beer spot with decent parking like Mobtown! Good Morning from me and my crazy puppy who thought 4 am was a great time to start our day! We got home late last night from our Grand Opening party we shared with local plant gal, Opalescent Soul Garaden co. at The Artful Flea in Catonsville! This shop is a really cool spot for local handmade, vintage, and antique items, stop by and support local sometime! Today we've got a busy, exciting day lined up! As a small popup business owner, my Saturdays are packed with popups and today is no different! We'll head to Mobtown Brewing for a Holiday Market I coordinated featuring tons of local small businesses & makers! First up, coffee and a walk to Holt Park! I sadly lived in Overlea for 6 years without knowing this gem of a space existed. It's not your normal kids "park", there's no playground, instead it's a beautiful wooded space donated by Lillian Holt in 1976, with a pond, foot paths, and hidden wooden bridges over a small creek. The Holt home remains here and acts as a place for children to attend activities that encourage exploring the woods, learning how to plant things, and enjoying nature and the arts! It's also a great place for local artists! They've hosted gallery open houses in the past and have been known to host paint nights! Take a look at the schedule of their December events I've added a photo of, many of them are family friendly and can be attended for just around $5 a person!! Pictured 1. Emerson was extra tuckered out post park but we had a couple of errands to run and SURPRISE the @oscarmayer wiener mobile was at the Safeway on Harford Road 🤣🤣🤣🤣 A little stop at @bramblebakes to pick up a surprise birthday cake for a … person who hopefully isn’t following this Instagram account LOL. I’m so glad this space is filled with another local bakery. Have y’all tried the smoked oatmeal creme pies yet??!!!? 😅 Currently on stage two of the cranberry glazed cheesecake. I love baking and cooking if you couldn’t tell, and having Emerson be big enough to be a helper - though it takes much longer most times - has been awesome and has gifted me more space to be creative again. Good morning from our resident skeleton, Paulo, my 3 year olds best friend 😂 I stayed up very late cooking (inspiration strikes at weird times) so my partner let me sleep in. Got a bit of a late start but we made it to our monthly play date at Double Rock Park! When I was pregnant, I was added to a wonderful group on FB filled with other gestational parents who actively works against the competitive nature of parenting that can exist. What I didn’t know about parenting, in the beginning, was how isolating the transition can be. There is this period between your old life and your new life where your identity is kind of floating in space. And this group was such an amazing and supportive place that carried me through a very confusing (and sleep deprived) time. It’s mostly online we but try to get together at different parks around the city a couple times a month. Pictured: two tattoos by NE Baltimore resident and artist @louddoodle. I got the moon tarot card tattoo in honor of another major transition: sobriety! I celebrate 6 years in January. The other is a cicada of course. The emergence of the cicadas couldn’t have been more timely - I too felt like I was screaming coming out of 17 years of darkness after things started easing up with the pandemic. Last: a cheesecake WITHOUT cracks! I’m still shocked. This has been my greatest cooking challenge for years. Let’s hope it tastes good 😂 And, the thing I stayed up way too late making, a savory roasted butternut squash sauce that will be served later with kale and bacon and noodles. I’m not going to lie - we had many rough spots today. My partner manages ADHD, manage anxiety, and we have a kid in the THICK of 3 and some very big emotions. Today was a day where it was a miracle anything got done at all. But we made it so cheers to that!! And if you’re reading this, you made it too!! Sometimes that’s all you can ask for. Tonight we decorated our home and our newly adopted tree. Many lights were untangled, many curse words were muttered, and many ornaments were thrown (by said 3 year old). I tend to stay up too late after bedtime because it’s often the only I can really sink into my bones and just exist. I’ve got a perfect view of the tree from my couch - but I’m fixing to get up and start the cranberry glazed cheesecake I’ve been thinking about since last weekend. The last picture is the goal - but I often favor flavor over presentation so we’ll see how it turns out 😂 Also pictured you’ll see a very Baltimore wreath I made last year as a pandemic project. If you zoom in, you’ll find all kinds of tiny secrets hiding deep in the shimmer. The tiny ornaments are shrinky dink ornaments my friends and I have made over the years. We started our annual Christmas Dinks & Drinks in 2014 and even did it outside in the freezing cold last year so as not to skip tradition. And the star - our amazing goat horn tree topper made by my partner.
