Moth #2

Todays moth is our first ever request!!! It was requested by @not-a-praying-mantis, and it is a rosy maple moth!!!

They are the smallest of the silk moths and they live in north america, they live from east texas all the way up to canada!!! Their caterpillars are known as the greenstriped mapleworm, which i think as a very nice name. While it is not common and they are two separate species the rosy maple moth and pink oak worm moth have had hybrids!! They look very cool but there is not a lot i can find about them… Great silk moths are one of my favorite families of moths and there are a lot of them!!!

I will be posting one moth EVERYDAY, it will include a small description and a picture!!!

I will take requests but it HAS to include the name of the moth!!! That is the ONLY requirement!!!

I want to add that while I don't mind corrections and add ons about the moths please reblog it if you're going to add them and please try to be respectful about them. I know I mess up some stuff with my wording but I'm trying to make the descriptions interesting. This is just something I do for fun because I like learning about moths and it lets me share what I learn!!!

Moth #24

This moth is called the dingy mocha i chose it because i like the name

Their patterns are similar to another kind of moth called the birch mocha! they cocoon over the winter and their wing span can get to 29 cm!! they live in england and wales and they live in mostly grasslands!!! The caterpillars are a kind of inch worm and they eat smaller leaved sallow trees!!!
