Mini mascaras put to the test.
I’ve got a couple of sample mascaras either free or almost free from shopping online. For the past wee while I’ve been observing them specifically.

1. Tarte | lights, camera, LASHES
Good news first, this mascara definitely maximises my lashes and has a chunky effect in a good way. It kind of reminds me of 60s Twiggy lashes. Also I have pretty sensitive eyes and this performs well. Tarte products should all have very good ingredients in them. However, it’s a smudger. I find even after setting spray it smudges on top of the eyelids.
2. Urban Decay | PERVERSION mascara
This one does look pretty darn good, I like to wear this when I’m going out. However it will smudge without a setting spray. Good job I got this free when I got my All Nighter bottle from Urban Decay’s site. Lastly it has that kind of oily formula that is tricky to get off. Ideally you would use a cleansing oil, as with micellar water it will be a couple of go’s.
3. MAC | FALSE LASHES EXTREME BLACK
Now this one has that something, it gives that perfect mascara look, it provides volume but also there’s something very sophisticated about it. Downside is that it’s tricky to get off, just like the UD one.
4. CLINIQUE | high impact mascara
This is a perfect mascara for everyday use. Not sure about the high impact but it blackens my lashes perfectly and they still look very soft. It’s very undetectable beautification. It doesn’t smudge, comes off easily and is good for sensitive eyes. If I want zero hassle with mascara I use this.

Overall I observed that the Tarte and Urban Decay have similar wands where the brushes are very short. Likewise the MAC and Clinique are similar with more traditional fluffier brushes.
