#MasjidAlNoor on the #GascoigneEstate has a dedicated team of volunteers who are focussing on the estate and surrounding localities in the borough of Barking & Dagenham. The majority of the team are from the local and vibrant Tanzanian community. They are a credit to a diverse borough which just over a decade ago had several BNP Councillors at the town hall - dividing the community with a warped message which included using immigrants as scapegoats for negative issues which affected the community. The Trust has a dedicated Foodbank area as well as space for cold storage. Once complete it will play host to one of the best facilities of this nature in East a London. My city has a broken heart. The sorrow we are feeling is beyond belief. It must be unbearable for the Muslim community. I want to fix it but I can't do anything besides cry and light candles.
Hearing the Muslims who lost loved ones speak at the vigil today was beyond words. Their faith, love and strength is insurmountable. One said that "This attack has created so much love. It's amazing to see how God works. He takes something away and gives you so much more back." His faith made my jaw drop. He's not bitter or angry. He's focused on peace and love. May Allah bless him endlessly.
