Gallant, McKenna, Morelli and Schneider assigned to Stockton
The Calgary Flames announce today that they have assigned the following four players to Stockton: Alex Gallant (LW), Jeremy McKenna (RW), Mason Morelli (LW), and Nick Schneider (G).
Calgary has 49 players remaining at training camp (5x goalies, 16x defensemen, 28x forwards).
Pair of Omaha players pick up Player and Rookie of the Month; UMD’s Shepard named Goalie of the Month
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Leading their teams to winning records last month, a trio of National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) players, two from Omaha and one from Minnesota Duluth, have earned NCHC monthly awards for November. Omaha senior forward Mason Morelli was selected the NCHC Player of the Month, while his teammate, freshman forward Taylor Ward, garnered NCHC Rookie of the Month and UMD junior netminder Hunter Shepard picked up NCHC Goaltender of the Month accolades for November.
This is the first career NCHC monthly award for both Morelli and Ward, while Shepard was the February Player of the Month in the NCHC last season, when a Goaltender of the Month was not yet awarded.
Omaha’s Morelli and Weninger, UND’s Bernard-Docker and Denver’s Ward honored for week eight
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Leading their teams to unbeaten weekends, a pair of seniors and a pair of freshmen make up the Bauer National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Players of the Week for week eight of the season. Earning Bauer NCHC Player of the Week honors for Nov. 19-25, 2018 are Omaha senior forward Mason Morelli for Offensive Player of the Week, North Dakota freshman blue liner Jacob Bernard-Docker for Defenseman of the Week, Denver freshman forward Tyler Ward for Rookie of the Week and Omaha senior netminder Evan Weninger for Goaltender of the Week.
This is the first career NCHC weekly award for Morelli, Bernard-Docker and Ward, while Weninger collected his ninth career NCHC weekly honor, including seventh Goaltender of the Week nod, but his first this season.
Here are the three men's hockey stars of the week for Nov. 19-25.
1 – Mason Morelli, Omaha The sophomore forward lit up the scoreboard all weekend as the Mavericks swept Arizona State. In Friday’s series opener, the Minot, North Dakota native had four points on a goal and three assists as Omaha won 6-4.
2 - Darion Hanson, Union The East Bethel, Minnesota native claimed Most Outstanding Player honors of the Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland by leading the Dutchmen to the tournament title. In the semifinals against Yale, he allowed just one goal in a 2-1 shootout victory.
3 – Odeen Tufto, Quinnipiac The sophomore forward from Chaska, Minnesota had a huge game Friday night against Maine, posting five points and his first career hat trick in a 7-2 victory. He added an assist on the Bobcats’ second goal Saturday in a 2-0 win.
