You ever get so deep down the rabbit hole of a particular pairing (especially noncanon background ones) that seeing either character in it being shipped with anyone else feels like stepping into a weird alternate dimension? Like it’s not a bad feeling, per se, just a really strange one. Like seeing someone wearing a color or outfit style that they don’t usually wear; you kinda have to do a double take to make sure it’s them.

He has a fiery relationship with his mum, like he loves her a lot and really respects her but they argue too over how protective she is and how much she worries. It's better for her anxiety and his independence if he stays at camp and visits her

His mum works several jobs, part time at a Chinese restaurant, part time as a street musician. Her big dream is to write poetry full time (she's an incredible poet)

Michael's been at camp since he was 13. Is two years younger than Lee

He's Buddhist

He's an excellent climber and has one of the fastest records on the climbing wall

Prickly, angry, has a chip on his shoulder from his dad leaving

Grew up trilingual and is fluent in Cantonese (and , Portuguese, English. But his Ancient Greek and Latin are very poor

Demisexual, gay, has eyes exclusively for a certain Jake Mason and is pissed about it

His dyslexia is very very bad. Tends to read in Chinese because that's easier

Plays the piano, the dizi flute and the erhu

He's actually very musical and loves traditional Chinese folk music as well as the broad sweeping operas

He just hides it because he's insecure about being known as a fighter and fears that people won't take him seriously if they hear his music

He and Lee are very close and Lee is the only one who can call him Mikey without being stabbed

See I love the Apollo cabin I love Michael Yew and I love Sunforge/Masonyew. So I obviously also love reading silly fanfics about them, imagining little scenarios and all that stuff
