A baby, five women and two men (from 8 months to 72 years old) injured in an “Amok” attack perpetrated by a 17 y.o. Latvian with an ax, in Flums (Saint-Gall Canton), Switzerland. It follows the recent attack in Schaffhausen by some kind of wood Troll with a chainsaw.
Two remarks :
— in a country where firearms are really easy to get, both legally and on the black market, we have (knock on wood) a very low level of violence in general, gun violence in particular, especially committed by mass murderers.
— because of the rules on concealed carry in Switzerland (you can ask for a licence to carry, but 99.99% of the time, it will be denied by the police), no one was able to stop the attacker. After the first assault, the assailant flew in a stolen car and he targeted the gas station where he was finally put down by the police.
It took the police one hour to localize and neutralize him. Both attacks are apparently random, the teenager having been previously signaled for violence mental issues.
