Absolutely! Also this made me check under my bed for cameras or you because I had in fact not eaten today because I am ill and hadn't psyched myself up to go make it, but I have since rectified that fact dfklgjdflkgjfd
ANYWAY, on with the prompt!
prompt list here!
19. “Have you eaten anything?”
It had been a long and hard week in Seattle for Beca. The call had come in the middle of the night, leaving her to scramble out of bed and hastily cram some clothes into a bag before heading to the airport.
Her mom was in an accident. It looked bad, really bad. Her aunt had told her that she had to get here just in case. So she did, she put all her flight anxiety to oneside and sat in the metal death tube for five and a half hours, flagged down a cab, and went straight to the hospital.
She got there just in time to say goodbye to her mom, sat squeezing her hand tightly as the life support machine was turned off, sobbing into her shoulder as she lost her mom for good.
As her next of kin, Beca now had to figure out what to do with all her mom's stuff, organise the funeral, inform the members of her family what had happened. She emailed her professors to explain she needed a few weeks off and they were thankfully very understanding, the Bellas had offered to drop everything and come out to help her but she turned them down. This was her responsibility, her mom, she had to sort this whole mess out.
"Have you eaten anything?"
Beca sniffed softly as she shook her head. She had been sat on the front porch of her childhood home, staring vacantly out at the street, barely noticing the chilly wind that bit at her skin. She had grown up in Seattle after all, she was used to this kind of cold.
"No. I'm not hungry."
There was a soft sigh from above her before the porch creaked next to her, turning her head slightly to look at the woman now sat beside her. Chloe gave her a small, sad smile, tucking a loose lock of hair behind Beca's ear. It was limp and a little greasy, Beca having been far too busy and lost in her grief to even entertain the idea of a shower since she'd arrived in Seattle.
"You need to eat Becs. You've barely had anything since you got here."
"I know." Beca swallowed thickly, subtly shifting closer to Chloe so she could rest her head on her shoulder, "But everything makes my stomach turn."
"You want to try some soup?" Chloe offered, winding her arm around Beca's shoulders, giving them a gentle squeeze.
"Maybe." Beca nodded a little, "That could be nice."
They sat in silence for a few moments, Beca curling more into Chloe's embrace, slowly trying to get as close to her as possible. Chloe didn't mind, it was one of the reasons she had insisted on coming with Beca. She knew how difficult Beca found it to open to people, to be emotionally vulnerable with anyone, the only other person in the world that Beca would be this close too, figuratively or literally, was her mom.
"I don't want to go tomorrow." Beca's voice was thick as Chloe felt the side of her neck where her face was buried start to grow damp.
"I know baby..." Chloe sighed softly, rubbing small circles on Beca's back and kissing the crown of her head, "But you have to. You'd never forgive yourself if you missed the funeral."
"But if I go then it'll be real..." Beca whispered, "She'll really be gone Chlo, I... I don't want her to be gone, it's not fair."
"It's not." Chloe shook her head, feeling Beca start to shake as her gentle tears turn into sobs, "You're right, it's not fair that she's gone. I wish I could change it for you."
Beca didn't say anything for a while, simply sobbing in Chloe's embrace. Chloe stroked her hair, shushing her softly but letting her cry herself out. She hadn't cried since the hospital, and that had been five days ago. Beca was really good at bottling her emotions up until they exploded out at the wrong moment, and with a loss of this magnitude, if she crammed it all down it would destroy her. So Chloe would let her feel everything that she needed to, let her be angry or sad or irritated or tired, or even a combination of the above, and not take it to heart, because at the end of the day at least Beca was feeling something.
"I'm really glad you're here." Beca croaked as her sobs subsided, sitting up a little as she wiped at her face with her sleeve and resting her forehead against Chloe's, "I... I wouldn't be able to do this without you. Thank you for coming."
"Of course." Chloe smiled at her brushing her hair from her face again, "Even though you insisted on me staying at home?"
"Yeah." Beca managed a small grin in return, "I'm glad you didn't listen to me."
"C'mon." Chloe took Beca's hands in hers, gently encouraging her to her feet, "It's cold out here, your hands are turning red. Let's get you something to eat inside."
"Okay." Beca nodded, "Would you be mad if I said I wanted pizza and not soup?"
"No." Chloe grinned, arm around Beca's waist, "What made you want pizza instead?"
"Mom and I really like this place a few blocks away, they do these insanely good cheesy garlic knots." Beca shrugged a little, expression getting watery again, "I just... I thought it would nice to share that with you."
"That's really sweet Becs." Chloe beamed at her, "I'd like that."
"Cool." Beca swallowed thickly, eyes roaming over the familiar interior of the home she had grown up in, feeling that ache settle in her chest again, "I wish she got to meet you Chloe. She would've loved you."
"Me too." Chloe nodded sadly, "I never got to thank her for giving me you."

“It’s my fault,” Pietro said, jaw clenched in an attempt to hold his tears — they were alike in that way. “My fault they’re gone.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Natasha’s tone was much harsher than she intended, but Pietro didn’t even flinch.
“She destroyed the mind stone,” his voice was rough, his accent stronger than even — so much like Wanda’s, it caused Natasha’s heart to clench painfully. “She did it. But I… I couldn’t hold him off.”
She crossed the room in the blink of an eye, grabbing his face in her hands.
“This is not your fault, do you hear me?” her own voice trembled with emotion. “The only one to blame here is that maniac, genocidal purple monster,” she didn’t stop her tears when they came. “You did everything you could, Petya.”
“But it wasn’t enough,” he countered stubbornly, reminding Natasha so much of Yelena she felt like crying again.
She bit her bottom lip, gathering herself before shooting him a pointed look. “You know what they would say if they were here, right?”
At that, Pietro let out a hollow chuckle. “Yelena would hit me. Wanda would call me names.”
Natasha’s own smile tugged her lips upwards slightly. “Yeah. They would tell you that you’re being an idiot.”
“And you?” he asked, sounding so heartbroken Natasha swept him into a hug before answering.
“I say I get it,” she said slowly. “Blaming yourself is much easier. It gives you something tangible to hold onto, instead of facing the unspeakable truth that is: we’re here, and they’re not.”
Pietro sobbed against her shoulder, hot tears staining Natasha’s shirt. “But the guilt of surviving something horrible will eat you alive if you let it,” she held on tighter, and so did he. “And I can’t lose you too.”
Natasha couldn’t hold her tears any longer, so she didn’t, and they simply laid in bed, crying until they fell asleep, still clutching tightly onto one another.
When she woke up in the middle of the night, there were leftovers waiting for them in the fridge.
It's been a while since I read some Bechloe fanfiction, I want to read one but I don't know wich, and I don't want to be stuck with a cringe one, wich one do you recommend I read?
Hi there, anon!
Wow ehm, that’s a hard question. I guess it depends on what you’re into. Like, did you want a one shot or multi chapter? Fluff, Angst, Smut?
I can just give you a few that I’ve been reading lately;
Literally ANYTHING by @massivedrickhead is awesome. You can find their collection of one shots here and their angsty multi chapter Guiding Light here. That last one is one of my favorites I have read lately, but be warned it’s very angsty with trigger warnings.
If your wanting to get a bit more smutty, I’d recommend Dangerous Jenga by @notsoawesomenerd which you can find here.
For some light angst and fluffy romance I would sent you over here to the ‘Through the lens’ series by @suituuup .
I have also been reading this one called ‘Are You The One’ by BlackLightning1212 on AO3, which is based on a MTV dating show. It’s very good, but not yet finished.
Lastly, to shameless self-plug... you can find my work here.
Hope this helps and you’ll get back into reading about our favorite idiots in love. Thanks for reaching out!
(3) Pulling the blanket back over them as they shiver in their sleep.
Bella movie nights were a sacred tradition. and Chloe wouldn’t accept anything less than full attendance. It didn’t matter what else they had planned, what exams were coming up, what parties were happening, Wednesday night was movie night and nothing less than death could excuse you from attending. Which was why a very snuffly Beca had dragged herself from the comfort of her bed and her cocoon of blankets to sink into the corner of the sofa with the tissue box in reaching distance.
“Chloe... surely the plague riddled get an exception from movie night?” Amy raised her eyebrow, watching as Beca coughed into the crook of her elbow, grumbling under her breath as she wiped her nose with a tissue again.
“M fine...” Beca croaked, “Les do this.”
Chloe frowned as she settled next to Beca, hand gently pressed to her forehead, “Becs you’re burning up... you should go to bed honey.”
“No.” Beca shook her head a little, “I can watch a movie, is good.”
Chloe smiled softly at her, knowing Beca was far too stubborn to cave and admit that she was too ill for movie night, “Alright Becs. How about you lay down here and just rest your eyes before the movie starts?”
“Kay.” Beca mumbled, needing very little persuasion to close her eyes right now, rearranging herself so that she was lay with her head in Chloe’s lap.
Chloe grinned a little; she didn’t actually mean that Beca should lay in her lap, but she wasn’t about to move her. She pulled the blanket off the back of the couch, draping it over Beca before gently running her fingers through her hair. It wasn’t long before Beca’s breathing began to deepen, sniffing softly in her sleep as everyone else settled in for the movie.
Beca didn’t stir once, not even when she started coughing about halfway through the movie, only grunting softly when it passed as she wriggled herself into Chloe’s lap a little more. Chloe had continued to stroke Beca’s hair with barely a second thought about it, settling in a gentle rhythm as she watched the movie.
Chloe glanced down at Beca, a fond smile on her face as she watched the way Beca’s pink nose twitched, her eyebrows furrowed, the way she shivered a little. Even sick and asleep, Beca was adorable. She slowly pulled the blanket back over her, the credits for the movie rolling as Beca let a soft sigh but showed no signs of waking.
“You want me to wake her?” Stacie whispered, nodding towards the sleeping Beca as Chloe shook her head softly.
“No, it’s okay.” Chloe murmured, “Let her rest, I’m good.”
The Bellas quietly bid Chloe goodnight, Chloe shuffling herself a little until she was able to lay down too, Beca’s arms having wrapped themselves around her middle as she had, grumbling softly at the movement from underneath her. She grinned at Beca who was now lay on top of her, head resting on her chest.
“Night Becs.” Chloe pressed a gentle kiss into the top of her hair, “I love you.”
“Love you too.” Beca mumbled, halfway between sleep and awake as she shifted herself again but very quickly choosing the latter.
how about "come on, let’s get you cleaned up"? from the hurt/comfort list?
Oooo I love this one!! Coming right up lovely!! 🥰💖
Hurt/Comfort Prompts
"Come on, let's get you cleaned up"
“I sleep upside down like a bat.”
Beca groaned softly as looked up to where Lilly hung from the tree above her. She was alive. Thank god she was alive. That had to be one of the most terrifying experiences of her life, fuck Aubrey Posen and her Lodge and her bear traps and her “we don’t believe in ladders!” bullshit policy.
“You good there Shawshank?” Amy grunted from underneath her.
“Yeah.” Beca nodded, wincing a little as she stumbled to her feet, “Yeah I think I’m good...”
“Are you sure?” Chloe had rushed over, their fight momentarily forgotten as she started to check Beca over for injuries, “That was a really high drop Becs, did you hit your head?”
“No, no I’m fine.” Beca smirked softly as she caught Chloe’s worried hands, “Really Beale. I’m good.”
“Good.” Chloe sighed in relief, “Because I’m not doing being mad at you for lying to me all year...”
“Chlo...” Beca whined, “I said that I’m sorry!”
“I know...” Chloe’s brow furrowed, “But it’s not just that you lied to the Bellas Beca... you lied to me.”
“Come on ladies.” Aubrey, as usual, could sense when Chloe needed some space and quickly gathered the Bellas together, “Let’s go and get each of you a change of clothes and a hot shower.”
“Finally!” Amy cheered.
Beca and Chloe stood in awkward silence for a moment as Beca shuffled her feet, her eyes on the ground.
“I didn’t want to lie to you...” Beca muttered.
“Then why did you?” Chloe asked, eyes full of hurt as Beca looked up for a moment.
“I-” Beca huffed as sank to the ground, legs crossed underneath her, “I guess I just... I didn’t think you’d understand. I thought- I though you’d take it as me not wanting to spend time with you and that’s not it at all.”
“Beca of course I understand!” Chloe’s voice rose as she sat opposite Beca, “This is what you want to do with your life, so what if I see less of you?! At least I’d know why, at least I wouldn’t think-”
Chloe cut herself off as Beca looked up from where she’d been tracing patterns in the dirt, shoulders slumping a little. Confusion crossed Beca’s face as she watched Chloe intently, waiting for her to continue.
“Wouldn’t think what?” Beca prompted after a few minutes of silence.
“That you hated me all of a sudden...” Chloe whispered, sniffing softly, “I- I thought I’d done something wrong and you didn’t want to be around me anymore...”
“Chloe...” Beca’s frown deepened as she reached out and took her hand.
For anyone else, Beca wouldn’t have even dreamed of initiating physical contact, not even with Jesse and they dated for nearly four years. But for Chloe, Beca would literally cut off her left arm and give it to her if that’s what she needed.
“I am so sorry I made you feel like that. I couldn’t hate you if I tried...”
“I just figured you were getting ready to pull away after college...” Chloe shrugged, “You’re going to go so far Becs and I- I’m just going to be some girl you used to know in college...”
“No.” Beca shook her head furiously as she shifted closer to Chloe, taking her other hand in hers, “Are you kidding me? You’ll never be just some girl to me Chloe, you are the girl that changed my freaking life!”
Chloe blushed lightly as she finally looked up at Beca again. Beca smiled softly at her, giving her hands a tight squeeze.
“You may have totally violated my privacy, but the day you burst into my shower and made me sing for you was perhaps the best day of my life, and not just because I saw you naked...”
Beca winked awkwardly as Chloe giggled, shaking her head a little.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you in my life Becs...” Chloe sighed softly, mellowing again, “And when you told me that you’d been keeping this huge thing from me it felt like you were leaving me before we’d even graduated...”
“I am so sorry.” Beca slumped slightly, “Really Chloe, I cannot apologise enough, I was trying to avoid exactly this and I ended up messing it all up anyway... I never want to be without you, not for a minute. The only reason I felt confident enough to even apply for this internship in the first place was because of you, no-one has ever made me feel this- this...”
Beca let go of Chloe’s hand to wave her hand vaguely. She had never been good at expressing herself as it was, and trying to explain how she felt about Chloe? Well that was an impossible task (although Jesse had taken a pretty good stab at it when she broke up with him a few weeks ago, with some rather choice words thrown in).
“Me too.” Chloe smiled softly, “That’s why I got so mad... because you make me feel...” Chloe waved her hand in the same way that Beca had, Beca blushing a little as she did, “And I don’t know what to do when you’re not here making me feel like that. But you did have a point...”
Beca frowned a little at this.
“I am terrified of leaving the Bellas, of leaving Barden...” Chloe sniffed again, Beca resisting the urge to reach out and wipe away the tear running down Chloe’s cheek, “I’m somebody here, I’m a Barden Bella, a captain, a three time ICCA winner... but out in the real world? I’m nobody, I’m not good at anything else, I have no idea what I’m going to do next...”
“Hey.” Beca lifted Chloe’s chin until she was looking at her, “Don’t say that. You are not a nobody. You’re Chloe freaking Beale! You’re good at so many things Chlo, you can do anything you want! And so what if you don’t know what that is yet? Just because I know what I want to do, it doesn’t mean you have to...”
“But what do I do in the meantime?” Chloe bit her lip a little, “What the hell am I supposed to do whilst I’m figuring out what I want?”
“Bartend. Or waitressing. Or, I dunno get a teaching qualification and go teach some little kids music. You’d be great at that!” Beca reassured her, “You’ve got this Chloe, and I promise I’ll be right there to help you figure it out.”
“Even when you’re off being a really famous music producer in L.A.?” Chloe grinned a little as Beca rolled her eyes.
“Even if I end up in Timbuk-freaking-to.” Beca promised her.
Chloe giggled as she pulled Beca forward, pulling her into a tight embrace as Beca grumbled fondly before wrapping her arms around her waist.
“Does this mean you forgive me then?” Beca mumbled, grateful Chloe couldn’t see her blushing as her breath tickled the nape of her neck.
“I guess...” Chloe sighed dramatically, laughing as Beca poked her in the ribs, “Yes Beca, I forgive you. Just...”
They pulled back from the hug, Chloe cupping Beca’s face in her hands and causing Beca to swallow hard as she blushed deeper.
“Don’t ever think I don’t want to hear about the awesome things going on in your life okay?”
“Okay.” Beca nodded a little.
"Come on, let's get you cleaned up..." Chloe got to her feet, dusting herself off before reaching to help Beca up, “You’re filthy.”
“Hey!” Beca pouted, “I’ve fallen off half a dozen obstacle courses and I got snagged by a bear trap! I’m allowed to be scruffy today.”
“Poor baby.” Chloe chuckled, not letting go of Beca’s hand as they headed towards the main lodge that the Bellas had trudged off to a little while ago.
Beca could feel her heart pounding a little in her chest. Why did this feel so normal? It had unnatural when she held Jesse’s hand, it always felt forced and cringey, but this? It felt right...
Beca stopped in her tracks, her mind racing. She knew why it felt normal. She knew what she felt for Chloe that was so hard to put into words. And... she thought that Chloe might be feeling it too. It had been almost a month since she had called it quits with Jesse. So... maybe now... after all she had almost died hadn’t she?
“Beca?” Chloe noticed that Beca had stopped, turning to face her with a confused frown, “You okay?”
“Don’t hate me.” Beca mumbled before lunging forward, cupping Chloe’s cheek in one hand as she pressed her lips onto hers.
For a heartstopping moment, Chloe didn’t kiss her back. Beca’s heart sunk like a lead balloon as she began to pull away. Nice one Mitchell. Way to fuck everything up-
Chloe pursued Beca’s lips as they moved away, pushing Beca against a nearby tree as she tangled her fingers into her hair. This kiss had been four long years in the making, four years of waiting for Beca’s relationship with Jesse to run its course, four years of pretending they didn’t feel this way, four years of stolen looks and secret wanting.
Beca whimpered a little at the ferocity of the kiss as she pulled Chloe into her. This felt so much better than it ever had with Jesse. This felt right, it didn’t feel forced or weird or like something she just had to get over and done with. Beca never wanted this kiss to end, she never wanted Chloe to be anywhere else but pressed against her like this, with her tongue in her mouth and her hands in her hair.
“Woah...” Beca breathed, panting a little as the two finally broke apart for hair, her legs trembling a little after the intensity of the kiss, “That was... woah.”
“Yeah.” Chloe giggled, resting her forehead against Beca’s, “Pretty much...”
“I um... I should’ve done that sooner.” Beca grinned sheepishly, “Man I really should have kissed you sooner.”
“I agree.” Chloe raised her eyebrow, “But also? It was kinda worth the wait...”
I’m so happy your call with Brittany went well! Sounds like she was a sweetheart. Ignore that dumbass anon 🙄
