Somerville kicking off $1B Union Square improvement project
Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker on Thursday announced a $13 million MassWorks grant to the city of Somerville to improve water and sewer in Union Square, which will kick off a planned $1 billion, 15-acre revitalization of the area.
The MassWorks Infrastructure Program is a state tool to invest in public infrastructure around the commonwealth. Somerville will match the $13 million in state funds with $25.7 million in local funding.
