“Then am I not your toy as well? You’re not exactly complaining whenever we...” she doesn’t need to go into specifics. He knows what she’s referring to.
She doesn’t want to admit to it. Simply because there is some truth behind his words. It had been like that at the start, he’d been nothing but a toy for her, just she was sure she had been his.
Wasn’t that why they started doing this? All the stress, all the work and how the other was just as human as they were? It’s true that she had hated him, hated his freedom, even though later he told her the truth about what lay outside, and why she was kept away from it. It made her worry for him, and she despised how her view of him had begun to shift until...
She found herself caring about his well-being. Found that she wanted to be by his side, to be looked at like he looked at some of his Servants, rather than that repressed anger she often saw in his eyes when they were together, him beneath her like he thinks she wants him to be.
That she wanted something more from him than just lust. Yet when she had tried to confess, he called her a liar and left her. The next time she brought it up again, he dismissed her entirely,
She doesn’t know how many times this makes now. And he still believes she lies. Why does she even keep trying? How can she prove to him that what she feels is not a lie?
He doesn’t necessarily need to reciprocate her feelings, all she wants, even for just a moment, is that he would at least believe her. That for even a single moment, he wouldn’t look at her like he’d rather be elsewhere.
