Mike Xavier ft Zack Gray @mikexaviermusic @zackgray gotta say this one is really next level , but I’m biased to the buttery vocals of Zack and the Slick delivery of Mr Xavier 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🔥 what’s great is that the last 10 tracks I’ve done have not even touched a plug in , and they all rip over anything else I’ve heard because everything else ? Sounds like the same plug in. It’s like audio communism when everyone sounds the same , has the same breakup hashy top end , thin midrange , and whatever else ... the bigger problem is that people will want you to make their already nicely mixed music sound worse sometimes for the sake of someone else’s more popular track “setting the standard “ but that’s totally false , it doesn’t have to be a standard ... good is always good . Not because it sounds like someone else . I serve my clients desires without any resentment or judgement , when they’re happy I’m happy . Sometimes later on, when I take a step back and see other music like this that’s been allowed to sound more “itself” than copies of others , it becomes uniquely better . It’s like , if everyone gets the same tattoo doesn’t it sort of diminish the point ? Put that in your blunt and smoke it . Love this new on @spencerhoad producing another awesome @criddleclayton track ! #tutorialtuesday What I was trying to say but couldn’t (because I was actually running the mastering ) is that the verse was much lower and he was making it more exaggerated so the dynamic range would be greater ... if I were to smash it together then his verse and chorus would be noticeable ... now , this isn’t necessary for the engineer to do , but if your verse is “too low” for where the chorus or drop is , I will manually ride it up a little until the chorus and back it off (if there’s a very large level or volume change) because it should not feel like the vocal drops off on the verse too far in pop music ... if you want it to , it can but this way I can ride the converters “natural compression” and not have to use any more equipment ... the result is a magic sort of sound , it just is . When I take this configuration and use plug ins , it just kills the feel and the human feeling in a track ; I don’t know any other way to describe it but when it’s all analog and I’m in the car even on blue tooth audio messing everything up , it’s just no comparison to having something messed with plug-ins and also even if you use external gear you have to worry about how many conversions and degradation there ... but that’s another story ... #mastering #masteringminute #pgx #bgmastering #masteringstudio #hollywood #cali #music #producer #mixing #makingmusic #tutorialmusic (at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios)
