Personal Projects
I really enjoyed the meeting last night at Masters Apprentices. Matt Palmer was the guest speaker for the night. He is highly credentialed as he has won a number of awards including the 2016 AIPP QLD Sports Photographer of the Year.
The topic was “Personal Projects” which is very much of interest to me. I have a few ideas sitting waiting for the motivation and time to commence them. Matt outlined the steps in his process and then showed how he implemented those steps. A key benefit of personal projects is that it improves our photography skills.
He talked to us about how to generate ideas for projects. Some of the topics that have gone viral indicate that taking an unusual approach to something commonplace can be a good topic to explore.
As Masters Apprentices is one meeting each month, there is no competition or judging of images. Instead, they have homework which you submit and then talk about. The homework topic this month was “monochrome”.
The images I submitted as my homework were:
Moonrise Over Redcliffe Jetty
Pipes
Clock Tower
Long live rock & roll! These kids are pretty good! #MastersApprentices #AussieClassic #Melbourne
