(Last one I swear!) Grad school has been a trip, y’all. 23-year-old Aubrey moved all the way across the country for this and at first I was intimidated and scared and lonely because I missed my friends and my home terribly. But I’m so grateful I did because along the way I’ve managed to go to a few new countries, experience new things, make some really great people and forge some (hopefully!) lifelong relationships. I wouldn’t be here without the love and support I’ve received from so many people (not all featured here obviously) but many, many thanks to the people who have come into my life and helped me make a home here in DC. 💖💖💖 #2018augrad #mastersininternationaldevelopment #wagepeace

In just a few of the wise words from Leymah Gbowee, “Building peace in a war-making world, your duty is not to change people, it is to walk alongside them.” As of yesterday, I’m a proud graduate of @au_sis. I could not have gotten here without the amazing support of my family, friends, coworkers, and communities. We are not here alone, but with all of our loved ones. I am so incredibly privileged to have had this opportunity at this institution to pursue my passion, meet people who share the same vision of a more peaceful, more equal, more just world and to learn all I can about all the things that set my soul on fire. Thank you to everyone who has supported me during the past two years and my life leading up to this moment. Feels a little like a dream, a few weeks ago I was honored to receive American University School of International Service’s 2018 award for Notable Professional and/or Policy Contribution in International Development.
