On the Wairarapa plains the next town north from Carterton ( our nearest town to TeePee Cidery) is Masterton. In the era before social media when newspapers reigned, the Wairarapa Times Age built this magnificent art deco building in 1938 to house the recently amalgamated Wairarapa Age and Wairarapa Daily Times. Designed by Mitchell & Mitchell, the reinforced concrete building is noted for its style, evoking a cruise ship with its curved balconies and horizontal banding, a style inspired by architect Le Corbusier. #artdeco #buildings #architecture #NewZealand

The Masterton Monster is an aquatic mammal found in New Zealand. The Masterton Monster is described as a creature resembling a mutated otter with a short muzzle, webbed feet,curly hair, and short legs. The Masterton Monster scared the townsfolk so much that they released their dogs on it, however the dogs were no match for the creature; the Masterton Monster ended up brutally killing one of the dogs which caused the others to run away in fear. The Masterton Monster retreated and hasn't been seen since. Skeptics believe that the Masterton Monster is nothing more than a deformed otter but others still believe that it is a new creature entirely.
