hello! i come from your last post; I'm a bit curious, since you mentioned the Great Spring Sickness, what are your plans for King Daeron, Valarr and Matarys, since in canon they die from this sickness?

Kings can retire in this AU so Daeron miiight have already eloped with his throuple to Dorne by the time the spring sickness arrives (he's had a stressful year).

Valarr & Dunk form a soulbond on the night Valarr was supposed to die. Dunk spends the entire night caring for his new soulmate & begging Valarr to live, he does.

Rowan, it will be explored, lost her parents in a previous plague. So despite the Maestors sometimes stupid advice, she manages to save Matarys. By this point, Matarys is her little platonic soulmate - with him & Rhae following her like ducklings whenever she's in the vicinity. Her & Dunk bond over their accidentally adopted Targaryen hatchlings.

omg I LOVED part 8 of caged, would you ever consider writing from matarys’ pov for other works (not necc w/in the caged universe)? You do such a good job of making each pov feel different and unique!! 🤍

Feel like Aerion is malding heavily after Daeron/F!Matarys make it official

he has many opinions about their union, but he is in lys then so who cares

matarys and aerion don't really know each other. he is younger than her and i hc that valarr, daeron and matarys were somewhat aware of the blackfyre rebellion happening when they were kids while the other kids had no idea. then maekar and his kids moved to summerhall and matarys didn't think about them that often so by the time asford happens she doesn't know that aerion is #likethat

aerion doesn't know her well either, paired with the fact that she doesn't look like a targaryen princess means he isn't especially fond of her (but then again, who is he even fond of)

i decided that she would be a professional fencer because it's a niche, expensive sport her dad got her into when she was a kid, but regular people won't recognize her on the street (name ONE fencer). somehow she ends up dating daeron (who is not doing good) and she buys him a dog so he has something to do while she is busy practicing. it's some big breed that she bought for a crazy amount of money from a breeder and they keep the dog in their tiny apartment which causes some online controversy (her first viral moment). they eventually rehome the dog (leave it at maekar's place)
