For the 3 sentence fic! Marichat. Cat/any animal themed Cafe. Thank you!
In hindsight, brining Marinette to a cat cafe on a date was not the best idea because though Chat could hardly blame all the cats going up and snuggling against her (he knows that irresistible pull all too well), there’s no room for him.
“Silly kitty,” Marinette laughs at his pout, and she shifts until Chat can tuck himself warmly against her side; cats rearrange themselves around the new addition and pile themselves across their laps. “Don’t worry, you’ll always be my favourite.”
They stay there all through the rainy afternoon, enjoying the rumbling purrs blanketing their little corner of the world.

Armour was never Hinata’s first choice of apparel, but as she grows and trains in the futile attempt of winning her father’s approval through the years, she realizes it’s her only chance of winning great honour.
She just never thought honour would look like the prince she’d been sent to rescue scrambling between the gleam of her sword and the enormous, vicious kyuubi she’d been tasked to kill, and she never thought honour would look like a choice as prince Naruto explains, “Kurama protects me from a life I would’ve been trapped in, but we’re free here; you can be anyone you want.”
And here, at the crossroads of a destiny she never wanted and a fate she could decide as her own, Hinata lays down her sword, sheds her armour, steps foward into their welcome, and makes her choice.
Everyone finds a different use for the stars they catch: some fuel lamps, continuously changing the stars out when they flicker out and die; some save the dust and use it in cooking, in medicine; some forge weapons glinting of otherworldly colours; but the stars fall to them for a reason and, Naruto is sure, it is not for any of this.
So he holds onto his stars, doing nothing with them until he meets Hinata, who has starfall in her hair and an ageless gentleness, who takes his hands and guides them down to the earth.
He plants his stars next to hers and learns, with every silver leaf and iridescent bloom, that the stars don’t fall to them to die, but to come back to life.
“This… is different,” Naruto blinks as he examines the red spotted suit apparently superglued to his body, “Oh man, you can see everything in this. I’m supposed to be able to fight in this?”
The answer comes from above in the tiny ring of a bell before someone lands lightly by him, her tail trailing gracefully in the air; she moves to stand and Naruto’s struck by the fluidity of her movements, the liquid black of her suit, the soft lavender eyes that peer at him from behind her mask.
“I think,” she says in the wake of Naruto’s starstruck, stunned silence, “I’m your new partner.”
Sakura doesn’t find Ino as she orbits the packed dance floor of the club as much as she is magnetically, irresistibly pulled into the center of Ino’s gravity within the heart of the crowded, gyrating mass of people.
Even between the neon flashing lights, Ino’s eyes are so vivid in celestial blue that Sakura feels a jolt somewhere in the hollow cavity of her chest at the recognition of a kindred spirit, of one who had also fallen, become lost, and is now found.
When their arms wrap around each other and their hips move together to the beat of the music, it’s only the most natural thing then that the pulsing lights and this moment of slow, exquisite heat is where they feel most alive.
Do you still make NH fanfics? I really miss your writing.
I have quite a number of wips in my drafts, but it’s been difficult finding inspiration and motivation to finish them. I am still working on them just- very, very…. very slowly. I’m sorry I haven’t written anything for them in a while! You’re always welcome to send me a prompt! Otherwise, I highly recommend checking out @utsus for your NH fic fix! In the meantime, here’s a piece from spy au I was writing so long ago! (Unedited, so sorry for any mistakes!)
The hallway is quiet, almost unnaturally so. The plush carpet soaks up any sound her heels and his shoes would’ve made and the loudest presence on the floor are the ostentatious wall sconces that brilliantly light the simple, but expensively furnished hallway of the hotel. The silence and the stillness are both a blessing and a curse.
Naruto gently taps Hinata’s shoulder and when she looks back at him, he hand signals whether or not she can see anyone coming. She closes her eyes, refocuses, and when she opens them again, the lenses that Tenten designed specially for her activates. She scans the hallways and peers around the corner but the only heat source she can see is Naruto at her back, though she doesn’t need to see him to feel his presence. He’s close enough that his front almost touches her bare upper back, the crisp folds of his suit gently ghosting over her skin.
She signals back. Coast is clear. And then she leads on, her eyes guiding them to their target: Room 511. She hates being in the open like this, even if the carpet and the walls render them both noiseless. It amplifies the sound of the hammering of her heart and the beats of her breath- but she knows that is adrenaline heightening her senses and sending her blood rushing. She focuses herself, clearing her mind until cool and sharp rationale grounds her again.
Naruto lifts a hand, brushes his palm against her bare shoulder, and squeezes gently in support before letting go. The brief connection comforts them both, when they’re so close to their goal, when they cannot afford to make a mistake now.
She freezes and he knows she’s seen someone.
20 paces, coming fast is what she signs to him and he’s already moving before her fingers have even finished forming the last code. He pins her against the wall in the corner, his large frame covering hers entirely, his arms braced against either side of her. He bends his head down until she can peek over his shoulder, and when he turns his head slightly to whisper in her ear, his nose glides along the smooth wings of her hair and the soft curve of her ear.
“Are they gone?” Naruto breathes, and the hairs on the back of his neck prickle and his body is tense around her, every sense on alert for anything coming up behind him which he couldn’t see. His eyes are on her though, and she is so focused on what she is seeing down the hall that he can’t help but let his lips quirk up in just the slightest grin. He will always entrust her to watch his back in a heartbeat.
“He’s coming closer,” Hinata murmurs in reply, her lips barely moving. Her brow creases ever so slightly and Naruto can practically see the thoughts flying and forming and piecing themselves together in her mind. He’s not as surprised as perhaps he should be then when she turns her head slightly towards him, her nose brushing up against his in the lightest of accidental eskimo kisses, before asking, “May I kiss you?”
His eyes flicker immediately to her lips, lips he kept catching himself staring at, before meeting her eyes again and the heartbeat that passes between their locked gazes feels like forever, as heavy and light as a held breath before his eyes drop down again.
He answers with a dip of his head, taking the plunge and then his lips are on hers.
Her hands immediately close around the lapels of his suit and she pulls him in closer, arching until her body is up against his and he groans at the feeling of her body pressed up against him. He slides his hands down from the walls until his arms wrap around her waist, his fingers splayed over her back, and she shivers in his embrace despite the fact that he is all warmth and heat around her.
The kiss is slow, just a touch hesitant as they sink into each other for the first time, but breathtakingly intimate in the way they press up against each other, in the way she can feel his heart pound under her hands and he can feel her pulse racing in time with his. Her lips are softer than he thought, softer than he’s dreamed, and he can’t help but catch her lower lip between his teeth, biting gently. Her breath hitches in her throat and the low moan that escapes her makes him lose all thought for just a moment.
Her silver eyes, warm and half-lidded, watch him so intensely that he doesn’t even realize he’s put a leg between hers, that he’s moulded herself to be as close to her as possible. His suit feels a size too small and her fingers are busy delving into his hair, lingering along his neck, sliding against his cheeks.
She makes it easy, for him to become lost in her.
His breath is hot, sweet as he breathes into her. She kisses back with a moan and a sigh, breathing back into him and the shared sensation leaves them both burning. Hinata’s eyes flicker past him and she giggles playfully all of a sudden, the only warning Naruto gets.
“Hey! Move along, this floor is off limits,” a gruff, disgruntled voice sounds behind him. There’s a light pop as Naruto slowly, reluctantly pulls his lips away from Hinata’s, but he still holds her close. He gives her the slightest of winks, his normally bright blue eyes still dark and sharp on hers, before a wide and sloppy smile stretches across his face. He stumbles back, turning to look at the unamused guard behind him.
The guard is the same height as him, more slender, almost feline in the way he holds himself, but his grey eyes are cold and calculating as he looks them over. Naruto sizes him up in a blink of an eye, knows how he would have to move to take him down. Hinata is doing the same thing next to him and Naruto’s grin grows bigger, knowing she is by his side and watching his back.
“Hey man!” Naruto crows, and Hinata is giggling and stumbling right along with him, her hands slipping and gripping as she tries to find her balance. Naruto anchors her to his side and gives the guard a disarming grin. “Off limits? Sorry, must’ve gotten off on the wrong floor.” He tosses a saucy wink at Hinata and she smiles flirtatiously back, leaning up to plant a lingering kiss along his jaw.
“Alright, alright, move along then,” the guard grunts, looking a little uncomfortable at their display.
“Going, going, gone!” Naruto laughs and then he’s pulling Hinata along back towards the elevator. She stumbles as her heels catch against the plush carpet and they hear the guard sigh behind them as Naruto fumbles in helping her up.
Hinata turns her head to peek back at the guard and smiles brilliantly at him, chuckling as he blinks back owlishly, stunned. She waves her fingers in a silly goodbye before she and Naruto stumble down the rest of the hall and into the waiting elevator. She wraps an arm around his waist and tilts her head up to kiss his neck and Naruto groans hotly, unsteadily as he jams the elevator button.
The guard’s watchful expression is the last thing they see before the doors close. When the elevator shudders and starts to move down, Hinata straightens up and even though she doesn’t remove her arm from his waist and he doesn’t move his hand from where it is buried in the curled ponytail over her shoulder, they’re quiet for a moment, catching their breaths and reigning in their racing hearts.
Hinata lifts her free hand to engage her earpiece and her movements are smooth and controlled, her mind back in the game.
“Shino,” she says, and she waits a moment to hear his voice on the other end. “Three guards in the hallway, though we only encountered one, and there are two more in the room. There’s definitely something in there. There was a blank spot in the room that I couldn’t read.”
“Noted,” Shino’s voice crackles back in her ear. “That is excellent news indeed. I’ll relay the information back to Kiba and we can establish a contact point. I shall keep you informed.” The line cuts and Hinata lets her hand fall, her fingers brushing against Naruto’s lightly.
She lets out a long breath and the success of their scouting catches up with her, the adrenaline making her body tingle and her throat hum. Room 511 is their confirmed lock and now they just need the right moment to apply the key. They are close, so close. It had been such a close call too, with the surprise appearance of the guard. She almost missed the opportunity to look into the room with her lens- but then Naruto gave her the perfect cover to stumble and trip and he bought her enough time to get the information they needed.
Hinata lets loose a laugh of relief and delight and when she sees Naruto tilt his head down to look at her, she can’t help but smile hugely, widely back, her elation and excitement overflowing until it thrums in her veins. She beams up at him, glad that she can share her happiness with him.
Naruto blinks once, twice at her unrestrained smile, and his heart starts racing again, faster than it had before. His fingers, still tangled in her hair, gently comb through her curls, and the back of his hand brushes against the impossibly soft skin of her shoulder. His breath catches at the shine in her eyes and he is so caught in her expression that the smile that grows on his face in response is so unconscious, so natural a reaction.
His smile is softer, subtler, but so sweet, gentle, and sincere. She’s not seen this smile before, not quite like this, and she pauses at the look in his eyes…
The elevator rings their stop and Hinata catches herself. She shakes her head clear, dismisses what she’s sure is just the heat of the moment. She drops her hands and blushes at how she held him, how she hadn’t let him go.
“Sorry, Naruto,” she clears her throat, but she still can’t help but give him a small smile.
“Nothing to be sorry for,” he replies, and his voice is raspier, deeper and Hinata has to keep herself from shivering, remembering how that rumble felt against her skin. His eyes, still that sharper deep blue, are focused so intensely on her that she feels like she’s the only person in the world.
He looks as if he’s seeing her for the first time and he opens his mouth to say-
The elevator door slides open and Sasuke is there, his dark eyes sweeping over them both before his voice cuts in, “Naruto, Hinata. Let’s get moving.” He doesn’t wait for their response, instead already turning and striding away to where Sakura is waiting with their ride.
Hinata glances quickly at Naruto, but the moment is gone. Still, his eyes linger on hers and there’s a promise in them that makes her feel so very bright and alive in his gaze.
He smiles at her again, gentle and soft, and laces his fingers with hers.
22. Muffled, from the other side of the door | NejiTen
(spy au)
10:06
A smartly dressed man steps onto the train’s crowded platform.
He’s not the strangest sight, despite his immaculately tailored suit and long, ink-dark hair pulled back in a neat, low ponytail. Even his startlingly light grey eyes with their curious lack of pupils pass by unnoticed.
Then again, Tenten muses, it’s hard to compete with the thick throng of businessmen that clog up the space. Though the businessmen vary in height and size, their suits are identical. The plain black and white smiling masks covering their faces are identical. The briefcases chained to their right wrists are identical.
They’re bizarre and unsettling, but they all stand quietly for the train and for the curious onlookers snapping pictures of them.
Tenten glances back to the man who just stepped into the crowd.
He carries nothing, is adorned in nothing, save for a handsome silver watch peeking out from the sleeve of his suit.
10:07
The train pulls up in a loud rattle, though the automated doors slide smoothly open. A few people step out, but everyone turns their heads to watch the businessmen file onboard. They quickly fill the space, packing the cars to the brim.
There isn’t much room left but a few people squeeze in after them.
The smartly dressed man is one of them. He is the last to step on before the doors slide shut.
10:08
Despite the people jostling around him, he looks out through the clear glass of the doors. Out to her.
Tenten steadily returns his gaze. The look that passes between them hangs heavy with words unspoken, with history felt, with trust implied. A whole conversation passes between them in an eyeblink, but it’s enough.
His jaw tightens, then moves as if he is going to say something- but then the train pulls away, and then he is gone.
10:09
Tenten leaves the platform and exits the station.
The air is unnaturally still as it holds its breath.
10:10
In the distance, the train explodes.
.
.
.
When the police arrives, Tenten is ready for them. The EMP she sets off effectively cripples them, leaving them floundering as she slips by them unnoticed. The chaos swarming the train station only gets worse as the TV screens broadcasting the news fail, as cell phones suddenly die, as the automatic sliding doors of the station freeze.
Her next stop is twenty floors up in a predetermined apartment building halfway across town. Her brisk walk is interrupted twice, both by thugs brandishing sleek guns. They’re professionals; she can tell just by the way they land on their feet: perfectly balanced, and ready to strike.
The smile Tenten gives them is its own category of lethal.
She makes quick work of both of them and walks away without having broken a sweat. The blood on her daggers is easily wiped away on the inner lining of her coat, specially treated for situations like these.
The apartment door yields silently to her hand, and the only thing that greets Tenten when she walks through the door is the sniper rifle situated by one of the windows.
She settles herself by the window and waits.
Her nerves hum with excitement and adrenaline, but this is the worst time to lose her cool. Too many months of calculated planning and careful execution has led her to this point; even now, she knows he is depending on her to see this through to the end.
Tenten peers through the window in between checking the rifle’s telescopic sight. Like clockwork, she spies the trail of traffic jams and accidents that mark the police’s path through the city. The traps she’d set up on all the lights beforehand did their work, with all of them turning green whenever a police car approached.
Hours slip away, and she still doesn’t get the signal she’s been waiting for. Anxiety replaces excitement now; she’d been so careful with her calculations and the setup of that bomb, but all it takes is one mistake-
A knock sounds on the door.
Tenten immediately reaches for the gun strapped to her side. Of all the weapons dripping from her person, it’s the simple pistol that cocks confidently in her hand as she rises from her seat and faces the front door.
“Who are you looking for?” she calls.
There is a shuffle on the other side. Her finger curls around the trigger.
“The shining joy and jewel of all my kingdom.”
The low voice that correctly answers the passcode is soft, muffled, but unmistakable, but Tenten doesn’t relax even as the door swings open and the man on the other side steps in. The barrel of her pistol grazes his chest like a welcome-home kiss. His suit is burnt and torn in places, but he wears it as immaculately as he did when she saw him just this morning. The silver watch glints at her from his wrist, its various dials and knobs in their secondary positions. Tenten knows it means several hours of fine tuning to get his watch back in order, but she also knows it likely saved his life. In his hand is a stained and bloody briefcase.
She lowers her gun and reaches around him to shut the door closed. He doesn’t even blink.
“You’re late, Neji.”
He undoes his watch and unfurls that infuriating smirk she is all too familiar with as he holds it up. The hands on his watch have frozen right at 10:10; a strange coincidence to Tenten, but she knows it is nothing less than an auspicious omen to Neji. Tenten can’t fault him on that though. It brought him back to her, safe and sound in the end.
“Nonsense,” Neji murmurs as he presses the lightest feather-soft kiss to her temple. “I’m right on time.”
not sure if this is where i sumbit the writing prompt, but naruhina the way i said i love you as a scream.
3. As a scream
Silence feels like suffocation, when fear is the root cause.
And silence is everywhere here, cloying and thick as the fog that smothers the valley that Hinata carefully picks through. The air hangs heavy with the promise of storms, shivering as a low growl of thunder crawls over the landscape, the sound bigger than even the mountains jutting high into the sky. Even her Byakugan isn’t much help here; the rocky cliffsides that surround her interrupt her range and provide ample cover for any of the Kumo insurgents that seek to frame her.
The hairs on the back of her neck prickle and she whirls around soundlessly, chakra pooling to her fingertips as she readies her strike- but it is nothing.
There is nothing, and no one, with her.
(That had not been the case during the beginning of her diplomatic mission to Lightning’s daimyo, when her ANBU guard had kept her company through the long journey, when B had greeted her upon her arrival with a fistbump and a wide, beaming grin that was achingly familiar on another’s face, far away back home, home-
then the bomb went off, wounding the daimyo, and all fingers had arrowed straight to her. It was all her guards and B could do to help her escape, before the court could mistakenly condemn her, before the insurgents could properly manipulate her.
There was no staying, in this place where she couldn’t help, so she goes.
It is a long way to home.)
✦
The sight of trees, even if they are the wrong kind, is so welcome that Hinata spends longer than she should hiding within the alpine forests. Water has not been hard to come by, but food is scarce when scavenging among rocks. The forests are little better, but there isn’t much she can do when the very land seems to have risen up against her at the cry of its daimyo.
Still, Hinata finds heart within the shelter of evergreens, where she can find patches of blue sky looking back when she cranes her head up. The soft pine needles tickle her skin, bringing back ghosts of another’s touch- of golden stubble pressed against her bare skin, of worn orange cloth draped over her shoulders, of large, tanned hands always drifting back to touch her, hold her in some way. There is happiness to be remembered in those moments, and a reminder, too. She has so much more to lose than her own life.
Survival has kept her alive so far, but fear is what keeps her living.
✦
She underestimates how badly the insurgents want her.
Her guard doesn’t let up for a moment, not even when she finally passes through the borders of Lightning and into the Land of Frost, but exhaustion nearly takes her down when an ambush strikes her just on the outskirts of Shimo. She is badly outnumbered, and badly disadvantaged.
She pops a soldier pill. She can feel its effects straining her heart, pushing it beyond its limit, but she has no choice. Her heart ticks a countdown as she haphazardly but successfully takes out the insurgents with deadly, calculated strikes.
She is the only one left standing, in the end. Her heart stutters, and her cough comes out a bright, shining bloody red.
Hinata clenches her fist, and limps on forward to home, home, where her other heart still waits.
✦
Injury is added to Hinata’s list of companions as she slowly makes her way through the endless snow of Frost. Exhaustion, fear, and silence remain with her, always.
But injury is new, and injury is annoying. Setting broken bones with her chakra is easy, but Hinata resorts to fashioning crude splints from her surroundings instead. What little chakra she has left, she needs to preserve. To compensate, everything slows down- every step takes her a little longer, and every movement seems a little heavier.
It feels like a lifetime, when she finally crosses over the border into the Land of Fire. She is so close, but so far still. That familiar silence suffocates her still, numbing her to the faint bird calls, the whisper of rustling oak trees, the first stirrings of home. Even the air feels strange on her skin: thicker than the thin air of Lighting, than the creeping chill of Frost.
Then- the heavy air breaks, not with the promise of storms, but with the distant thunder of her name, roiling powerfully through endless distances. Her name thunders again, again, again like a beating heart calling her home.
She hears it in the broken silence, in each time he calls for her: I miss you, I need you, I love you.
She sees him crest over the horizon of her sight, the electric orange of him- and she finally allows herself to collapse.
Through the blurring of her sight she catches the lightning of him, how he was there but is now here. He catches her fall, and gently cradles the broken pieces of her in arms, his powerful back bowed over her until his forehead meets hers.
“Hinata,” Naruto whispers, and his voice breaks around her name. “I thought…”
She lifts a hand to cradle his cheek, running fingertips over his whisker marks, feeling the gold stubble scrape her skin, and smiles.
“You’re here,” she breathes. “I’m home.”
send me a ship/two characters, and a way they say “i love you”
