You haven't had the best luck with your love life. Studies and work kept you busy, so you couldn't focus on anything else but survival. Lately, things have been going more slowly, so you decided to try your luck!
Your friend's face lit up when you told them, they quickly wrote down the number and address of a matchmaker. "A matchmaker? Isn't that a little old-fashioned?" You asked, hesitantly taking the paper. As you pulled out your phone to look up the address, your friend kept on praising this 'miracle matchmaker'.
A few days later, you're standing in front of this small apartment building in the old part of town. You knock on the decorated front door, a young man opens the door for you. "Y/N, right?" He asks, his voice is smooth and silky.
"Yeah!" You respond, smiling politely and stepping inside. "Um, how do you know that?"
"I'm Claude. We spoke on the phone." He informs you with a gentle smile, as he offers you his arm. You recognize his voice and name as the matchmaker's, you smile and take his arm.
Once you enter the apartment, the cozy atmosphere wraps around you like a warm hug. Claude leads you to a small, decorated and round table at the corner of the living room. You sit at one of the matching chairs, your weight sinks into the cushions.
You see Claude retrieve a notebook from a nearby shelf. He sits on the chair opposite to you with a soft smile on his face. "Let's get started now, shall we?" He asks, leaning on his elbow and opening the notebook.
You nod and the consultation starts. You two spend a few hours speaking about your life, your preferences and what your ideal match would be. While you talk, Claude listens attentively and writes down everything you say with a soft smile and intense gaze.
When the session comes to an end, you see Claude's face drop for a second as he glances at the clock on the wall behind you. "Wow, this session is over already?" He exclaims, smiling once more as he picks everything up. "Oh! You're right! I'm sorry, I tend to talk a lot," you explain as you pick up your belongings, Claude chuckles as he approaches. "Don't apologize. I see it as a great trait."
Claude accompanies you to the exit. "I hope I can find your perfect match, and if everything else fails, I'm willing to offer you a refund and take you out on a date." He jokes, his teeth showing as he laughs, the whiteness of them glowing under the light of the entry of his building.
You laugh as well. "Our talk was lovely, so I wouldn't say no!" You respond as you step outside. After Claude says goodbye, you wave goodbye and start your walk back home.
Claude, meanwhile, plops down at his desk, his smile widens more and more a she repeats your sweet words in his head. He's never felt this way towards a client or anyone, really! I mean, he always keeps it professional, he knows no one can match or find his obsessive passionate kind of love attractive.
But, could you be different? You have to be! He'll make sure of it.
But... You're still a client. You only met because you need his help, nothing more. But he'll make you need more of him. You'll need him as much as he needs you.
How will he achieve that, you may wonder? He'll keep you waiting, learn more about you through your venting, keep giving you horrible matches... All of this to get you to see how perfect he is for you, boost his image above all possible candidates.
He'll keep 'failing' so you still need his help, so you still need him.
