A classy device with a premium finish but it has some big caveats
The Huawei Mate S has recently gone on sale with our friends at Three Ireland and for anyone looking to move away from Apple’s iPhone but still retain a premium metal finish and a classy look the Mate S might just be the device for you. There are a couple of big caveats which I allude to in my video review below such as battery size and life and Huawei’s EMUI ROM but overall Huawei have made a quality device which a nice camera and good features.
For my full review check out the video below and design and camera galleries also.
I really like the design on the Mate S, the all metal body gives a nice cold feel to it and a feeling of sturdiness despite not feeling overly heavy. The screen size is 5.5″ but yet it seems more like a 5.2″ display in the hand, which will suit some people.
The Mate S has a very capable 13MP f/2.0 rear sensor that takes really nice shots, the camera interface is spartan but functional and contains some nice modes should you wish to use them. I did find the shutter lag to be a little more than it should be but image still snapped and processed quick enough.
