As I spend hours on end designing Materials in my favorite tool Substance Designer. I always ponder on how to present them to my clients in a professional manner that focused on the design and simplicity through the power of the web without the technicalities to mar the experience.
Well here it is…

The above presentation shows a seamless way of leveraging both technologies.
Brief Intro
Sketchfab is a great tool of showcasing great 3D models created and need an effortless way of sharing through the web.
Substance Designer is great with material authoring design, scan processing and material definition language (mdl) leveraging procedural design and ease of use to empower creatives everywhere.
Watch out for the both of them
Well back to it…
I designed a procedural wood pattern texture generator entirely in substance designer and the question lingered on how to efficiently present it. “I don’t want to design something and let it archive on my computer.”
That’s the solution… Sketchfab.

My Wish
What I wish I could do with a web based solution like this is to allow quick edits on the control parameters we define through the web preview. Essentially the substance player for the web with the ease of use of sketchfab.
Or Sketchfab with deep integration to allow direct access to substance archive files and generate textures on the fly with their respective parameters and yet retain the ease and simplicity it has always stood out for.
Collaboration is key in the design world and being able to communicate seamlessly through technology empowers us to do great things.
The end result is a seamless integration between the two technologies that will allow creators to present their work in a smart and more productive way and share with the world.
